Perfect place to have some of the region's best dishes (and desserts), the place it's relatively small, but cosy and as that feel at home feeling. This is my hometown so I go there sometimes, and this is now definitely a go to place.

We went here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The owner welcomed us friendly,we were shown a nice table that was properly set.The atmosphere is traditional. Nice pictures on the wall of farming over the years plus some artefacts. As starters we got home made fressuras, nicely spiced and properly done. The main courses were very good and made with attention. The lady cook, when leaving the restaurant, asked what our opinion was.he place is not that easily accesible but whenever you get to Mina de Juliana this is the place to have lunch or dinner.

Central Beja seafood and meat. This is a 'tasca'/cafe style eatery.. not fancy and quite small.. so book!....the menu has lots of local dishes on, and surf and turf type food.. the black pig was tender and delish....my surf and ( pork) turf was also very good.. the portions were, as usual in this area, more than generous, the service was fast and efficient, and the wine list covered every pocket and taste. It was full of locals, and the oysters looked good, the prices very reasonable, and the amuse bouche cheeses, prawns and hams were really very good. All prawns clams crab etc was sold by the kilo..so you can call off what you need/want. specials were perceves ( goose neck barnacles) oysters, lamprey in season, and several local style stews. If in central Beja try it!

Located in a small village outside Beja, this small, plain looking restaurant excels at one thing. PORK! While Pork is featured at almost every restaurant in Beja, Toi Farois takes it to a new level. Prepared many different ways, it is the most flavorful, tender Pork I have ever eaten (and that says alot)..a must have. Also quite novel and delicious is their tomato salad. Made up of just tomatoes, olive oil, a hint of vinegar, and spice they are combined into an excellent salad. Our party of 8 went through 2 huge bowls! This restaurant may be a bit off the beaten path, it is well worth the trip. I plan on being in Beja again next fall and will definately be stopping by.

This is a no-thrills, simple Italian restaurant with large portions and low prices. I had an excellent, wood-fired pizza and two beers for only 11 euros. Good, quick service, with excellent food at affordable prices, what else could you want?

5 min walk from Pousada de São Francisco Beja
Local Portuguese food with friendly service. We choose 3 dishes from the house specialty menu including a soup, pork, and bacalhau. All dishes were under 10 euros each. The place was packed with locals on a Sunday afternoon. Always a good sign.

The restaurant Dom Dinis is located along one of the most iconic national monuments : the castle keep of Beja Castle. The geographical location gives you a series of parking solutions in various streets surrounding this area of great historical interest ,
Located across from the Beja Castle this is a true Portugese experience. The restaurant specializes in the meats and tradional Portugese cuisine of the Alentjo region. They specialize in the black pork for which the region is famouse and we had it two ways. It was served with a traditional Portugese bread style accompaniement made in a cast iron pan which was excellent, one had asparagus within it. The server was great and while very little English is spoken everyone was very friendly and accomodating and we were well understood.Boa noite caro Tigandgrace,Muito obrigado pela sua visita e pela descrição do seu comentário. Gratos pelas suas referências.Cumprimentos

Well worth the trouble you may have in finding this - it has an almost invisible entry without any obvious sign in a narrow and run-down side street - but offering a really ambitious range of dishes that strongly reflect both regional and national Portuguese culinary resources. Take the time to download and investigate the menu in advance - in both Portuguese and English - from the restaurant's website. Our choices of starters of mushroom with avocado puree and shrimp and Serpa cheese with caramalized walnuts was enjoyable, with a helpful explanation of the origin of Serpa cheese from the waiter. Main dishes of guineafowl and veal in port wine proved to be more than substantial and very good value for money. A total bill for all this plus a shared dessert and a bottle of excellent Vidiguera wine for just over 50 Euros for two would certainly have merited a second visit had we not already exhausted the time of our stay in Beja!
