My husband and I came here on that last leg of our honeymoon. We were staying at a secluded resort and were craving some good pizza, so we decided to head into town. The staff and our driver all recommended A Modo MÃo, so we went for it. The pizza was amazing and the staff was incredibly hospitable. We sat there enjoying our pizza and some beers and were very glad to have made the trip to town for this. If youâre looking for some no frills, down to earth place with really yummy pizza, definitely come here!!

Typical sicilian cuisine between tradition and innovation, specialties porcini mushrooms. Wine cellar with fine local wines
We reserved a table for dinner on a Saturday evening and specifically asked if they had fresh Porcini mushrooms; the answer was positive. We arrived at 20:00, asked the waiter for the fresh Porcini and we were told that we were âluckyâ as they just got a delivery but that we had to wait 10 minutes as they had to clean it and get it ready for the evening mise en place. We decided whilst waiting for the Porcini to order a pizza Siciliana, and a Rosso di Verzella red wine, which was very good; cannot say the same about the Siciliana as it turned out to be too oily. Finally ordered some starters, fresh Porcini salad (fantastic), Porcini Pastellati and Polpettine di Porcini that were of a good quality and taste. As soon as we finished the starters we decided to order the main courses and since the fresh Porcini salad was excellent we wanted two more as side dishes, the waiter informed us that unfortunately they had already finished the fresh Porcini and suggested us some pasta dishes with pre-cooked Porcini; ordered tagliatelle, lasagna and a portion of (medium-rare) chargrilled lamb. The lasagna wasnât bad, the tagliatelle were just boiled and had some mushrooms on it (tasteless) and the meat was overcooked. The desserts were scarce; in fact we just had some pineapple. The service is very slow and inattentive; the place is mediocre and lacks of appeal. As we were about to leave, the staff that was standing near us didnât even bothered to say âthank you and good byeâ.

On our final night around Mt Etna, we wanted to taste some fresh porcini. On the menu of the restaurants we saw there was the dreadful asterisk 'sorgelati' .. Then chef Gaetano of 'Orchidea' improvised an all-porcini dinner we won't easily forget: bruschetta, insalata, porcine fritti etc. We'll return!

This restaurant offers outdoor as well as indoor seating with a fantastic view. The food is very good. The kitchen timing though was bad. The primi piatti were served one by one, with a time lapse of 10 minutes between the first and the last. The secondi piatti arrived too soon - the primi were not finished yet.

The service was very friendly and the property is nicely put together. There is plenty of parking around the back of the restaurant. There is a lot of choice and it is not expensive. The pizza was nice enough but it was a bit overcooked and difficult to cut through(although tasty).

A very nice restaurant in a very nice Sicilian town placed close to the Etna's natural park. Staff service was excellent, specially advising foreigners about the menu. There you can eat really good pizzas, but, also, and the most important, you'd be able to taste the Sicilian style pizzas (folded and fried).Furthermore, don't miss the exceptional dishes with funghi porcini gathered from Etna's woods (pizze, fetuccine.)All of this at a very convenient price. Definitively, Zafferana Etnea is a must visit town, and Moulin Rouge the place to enjoy the Sicilian cuisine there.

The restaurant is in Zafferana main square. Nothing fancy, the place is small, but cosy. The personnel is very kind. The menu offers a limited selection of apetizer, pasta and main courses. And this is what I like of this places: few options, but very limited possibility to get it wrong. Both the two kind of pasta we ordered were really good. My mother wouldn't prepare it better! :) And trust me this is quite an achievement! I had a mix of grilled meat as a main course and everything was good. Dessert (homemade walnut icecream with caramel and hot choccolate) was divine! Very good value for money. I highly recommend it.
