I have gone to La Torre almost weekly now for a few years, because they have one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten - Pizza Italia! When I go to other pizzerias, I cannot order the same pizza, as it is never as good as it is in La Torre. Also Service is excellent :)!

Nice cosy atmosphere, very friendly attentive service. A highlight is that they offer gluten free options, especially gluten free pizza, which is quite difficult to find.

There's good news and not-so-good news about this restaurant-trattoria a little outside the inner city of Winterthur. Our party of 6 had a reservation for dinner in early January. The table was beautifully set and very festive, as were other tables in the area. However, just a little farther back the tables were bare, no white tablecloths, napkins or other sign of customer expectancy. Within partial view was an old fashioned pizza oven with a rounded tiled front. We ordered from an extensive list. The pizzas came on large 12 inch plates with good homemade crusts. All the pizzas and a pork steak were really good, except for my pizza, the Quattro Stagioni which is supposed to have four equal sections of toppings. Mine had half the pie scattered with ham, a cluster of canned mushrooms, green peppers which weren't supposed to be included, and 2 canned artichoke hearts. It was sent back for more artichokes. The occasion was a milestone birthday celebration, the staff was informed at the time of reservation, but after we finished eating and were ready to go there still was no sign of an acknowledgment of the occasion. One of our party had to remind them. Finally about 10 minutes later the lights dimmed, the hostess and staff came out singing Happy Birthday (impressively in English as German is the main language) with a beautiful platter of assorted sweets. One of the children with us had to get up to go ask for extra spoons and it was enjoyed by all. After a restless night, probably from the canned mushrooms in my unfortunate order, I looked at the bill and noticed a number of discrepancies between the online prices and those charged. The difference came to over 8 francs that I was able to compare, as some items we ordered were not on the online menu. In sum, the food was very good, except for mine, and I'd recommend to check what is posted online in advance before paying the bill.

I must say the food was nice and the price was reasonable. After we ordered the drink and food, another couple came (around 15 mins after we arrived). but at the end, the other couple finished their food (starter and main course) and we were still waiting for our pasta and pizza. finally, we got our dishes, after 45 mins we placed the order. the restaurant was not full that night.

Everything is done in the Löwen. In our innovative kitchen, we rely on market fresh, local produce from the region. Our philosophy is "to prepare delicacies from healthy, everyday foods". An ambience to feel good. At the Löwen, host Mario Gulli and his te
We enjoyed a meal for four here on a Saturday night. This restaurant feels a bit like a nice upscale french bistro. It is small and has a intimate feeling to it. We experienced excellent food and attentive, friendly service. Everything we had was tasty: herb crusted lamb, cordon bleau, fried fish, steak tartar. There is an extensive wine offering, it is quite difficult to choose. If you are in the area, this is worth a stop, it is tucked away in Winterthur, and a bit of a hidden gem!

Three concerts on three consecutive evenings in Winterthur. Each evening I went to a different restaurant for a bite to eat before the concert. La Pergola was the least good of the three.I don't like writing bad reviews. Food and wine are two of my passions and it is always a pleasure to write a good review. Also, I realise that running a restaurant is not an easy business: long working hours, staff not very highly paid, few chances of promotion to a more senior position, etc. There were some good points that should be mentioned. When I arrived I received a courteous and pleasant welcome. The tables were nicely set. The menu had a large selection of pasta, pizzas and other dishes. Prices were reasonable. However, my main problems in La Pergola were two: the service and the wine. I wanted a glass of white wine. There were three available by the glass: two from Switzerland (a Riesling and a Féchy) and a Chardonnay with the usual descriptive blurb which gives little real information. I asked my waitress where the wine was from. She said "I don't know". I have just come back from eight days in Spain. Eight different restaurants. When asked about the wine they either showed me the bottle so that I could see what I was drinking or if they didn't know the origin of the wine, they would say "I'm sorry I don't know, but I'll just check with the kitchen" This was always done with a pleasant smile - an awareness that this is a service business and your job is to do the best, within reason, for the customer. But to come back to Switzerland and receive a stark "I don't know" and stand there looking at me impassively as if that is the end of the matter. It's depressing.I said "Well.." and she said "I suppose I could ask" ("Ich solle fragen") but didn't look too happy about it. Maybe she thought that I wanted detailed information about the winery, so I said, "For example, is it from France?" Again she said "I could ask". So, I said "Yes please". She came back a minute later and said, "It's French".I had ordered tagliatelle with asparagus and ham, but she silently put it down and left the table before I had a chance to ask for grated parmesan - which should be automatically offered for a pasta dish. So I waited to catch her eye and when she came to me I pointed to a vacant table and asked her for the pepper mill from that table. She never spoke a word but just put the mill on my table. I then asked if there was any parmesan cheese, she silently went to another table, put the parmesan down and walked away. The third of the three restaurants in WInterthur this week was Punto e Pasta, where the two waitresses were so friendly and pleasant that from the beginning, eating there was a wonderful experience. This doesn't happen by accident. Management has to either hire people who clearly like this kind of work or else train their staff to be welcoming. The wine: the Chardonnay was the worst that I have had in years: oily, almost syrupy. This is an Italian restaurant! One expects a decent choice of Italian wines. This restaurant clearly needs someone who knows and loves wines to be their buyer.I am sorry to be so negative, but this was really a disheartening experienceHello MartinW_DublinFirst of all, I would like to thank you for sharing your experiences during your visit to La Pergola. In this way we can continuously optimise our quality standards.I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We will discuss and optimize the points in the team. Of course, this must not happen a second time.Neverthelesse, I hope to welcome you again with us.Best regardsMentor

I have eaten at this place several times, they are serving really nice Italian food. Located in the center, next to the train station this is an easy location to reach. You can have a pizza within 20 minutes from entering the place to cutting into it.
