On the road to the Balze from Volterra, this is a simple pizza place which served delicious and cheap pizza a legno. The pizzas were large and very tasty and there is an extensive choice.Wine was excellent as were puddings which were also home made.

We had a perfect window, right by the open window. We initially took cover here as we were hit by an intense rain storm and were welcomed warmly...another restaurant kicked us out as they were too busy...with only half the tables full.We loved watching the rain roll in and feel the breeze on our faces. The table by the window is the best.We wanted a lighter lunch but when we saw a truffle gnocchi on the menu, we change our mind and went for it. We also had their Margarita pizza (which was super affordable - like 6Euro only). The gnocchi was heaven. Pillowy and rich. We shared it with the group as it is very rich dish...but so worth it!

We visited the restaurant for lunch based on the good variety of both heavy and light dishes shown on the menu. Started with a fresh insalata mists with tuna followed by a nicely seasoned mushroom sauce. Because of the heat of the day we chose sparkling water which made for a light but satisfying mid-day meal.

Just watching the care with which Mother and daughter prepared a table was indicative of the care and pride that this family takes in their restaurant. Super, wood-fired pizza as others have commented. But unusually, we were persuaded to have a sampler of three desserts recently baked. Truly superb. Make sure that you walk the extra few yards to this little gem and leave space for a dessert.

We went there for a dinner, location looked very good, in Volterraâs old town. We were welcomed by a rude waitress, who was very nervous all the time, making guests feel like they are doing something wrong. She didnât speak English, actually no one did out of the whole personnel. When we asked for an apricot juice for our 4-year old, we were told that this is a restaurant where guests usually drink wine, and they can offer us orange or apple juice only. The service was rather slow, and the food not as we expected, very small portions, particularly not worth the high bill we paid at the end. The menu English translation was generally wrong, misleading guest to order food they actually wouldnât choose. The order they served the dishes was also wrong, they served the starters along, even after the main dish. We were charged âcopertoâ 2,5 EUR each, even for our little girl who only had her âapple juiceâ. Generally, I would advise Volterra visitors to look for another choice when selecting their dinner place.

We had an absolutely delicious dinner here! The restaurant is very close to Volterra and it is definitely worth the short drive (which is actually a very scenic route, as well!) We had various seafood appetizers to start, accompanied by their focaccia, which is a must! The dishes were just delicious! The pasta, if possibile, was even better - delicious mixed seafood sauce with fresh pasta and then a tasting of ravioli with asparagus cream and shrimp, topped by truffle shavings - amazing!! The staff is also really nice and friendly. This place is a must, can't wait to be back!!

We ate outside in the Piazza dei Priori and enjoyed the ambience of the surroundings. Staff was attentive and was able to take our order in English. The bruschetta was fresh and delicious, and we loved the thinly-sliced grilled vegetables that accompanied the steak Fiorintina. We have had this before and knew that it would be served rare but the meat was almost raw except for a thin sear. Although it looks huge, we weren't able to cut as much of the meat from the bone as we would have expected given the weight and price of the entree. The dishes of those seated near us looked delicious so perhaps we should have ordered differently.

Ristorante self service a pranzo e pizzeria la sera
We stopped by for lunch on our first visit to Volterra and had the Volterra pizza (mushrooms and truffles), the Vienna pizza, and a pork cutlet with fries. Everything was absolutely delicious and both my son and I really enjoyed the Volterra pizza. Service was quick and very friendly! It was so good we went back for lunch the following day and were equally satisfied!

...make it this THE ONE! The trick is to combine a couple kind of pizzas into one so it is opulently Americanized. A wonderful grandmother served our ham-mushroom-arriabata spicey oil mozzarella pizza with the most reasonably priced wine in town. We still have happy pizza dreams.

They were friendly when we arrived but it all went downhill after that. The Pizza arrived very very quickly, far too quickly for my liking. They were obviously looking for a quick turn around in diners as they were always hovering about us waiting. Every time someone finished their dish it was taken away. Every time someone finished their drink it was taken away. They did not ask us if we wanted anything else. The pizza was poor. The ingredients were the cheapest they could get, one of the worst pizzas I have had in Italy. We used the toilets which were not particularly clean and lacked paper towels and toilet paper. Although it was cheap and very busy I would not recommend this restaurant .
