Reviews on Pizza food in Urubamba, Cusco Region, Peru. Just its location—in the Sacred Valley of the Incas—makes Urubamba sound like a mystical, magical place. The snow covered Ch'iqun mountain stands proudly in the background of this Peruvian town that serves as a base for people who want to visit the famous ancient Incan ruins of Machu Picchu. Zip lines and horseback rides let you experience this valley in the Andes in wildly different ways.
Things to do in Urubamba
I learned about this place from a local host family I was staying with and have to say it is the best pizza I have had while in Peru. They have a variety of options to choose from and can do personal sized, medium or family sized pizzas. It is still not like what you find in the U.S. but it is good and the crust is better than anything I have had anywhere else. The service is not up to American standards, but that is true of everything here, but it was much better than many of the places I have been. If you like onions they have a fantastic cebola (onion) pizza which was my favorite. There is also an Aleman (German) that has a lot of meats but does seem to include hot dogs in addition to other meats, and we also had a mushroom pizza. They also provide garlic bread which was very good and unexpected. They have seating on the first floor or up on the 2nd floor as well and perhaps best of all, they accept VISA. Prices are quite reasonable and we ordered 4 large and 1 medium pizzas with drinks for about $70 U.S. dollars. Urubamba is not a big tourist town but you will find both westerners and Peruvians alike eating here.
Profits support Asociación Educativa Cultural El Arte Sano, which is nice. Enjoyed some great espresso (5 soles), the menu del dia (8 soles for a really great soup, chicken with rice in peanut sauce, and a small piece of flan), and the chicken sandwich with Andean cheese and fries (12 soles). Also had a slice of moka cake (5 soles) because it looked awesome, and it was very tasty. Very inexpensive and solidly good. Looked like they also had alcohol.
very good food and service. peruvian pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven was our favorite. very nice interior - wood tables and chairs were roomy and comfortable. got to restaurant from our hotel in a three-wheeled taxi - nice adventure.

Cafe Restaurant
In one of the few nice traditional houses still remaining in the center of Urubamba, "La Casa de la Abuela" offers that tranquil and artistically decorated place, where you can sit down in a beautiful inner courtyard, while listening to good music (what in Peru is a rarity), connect to an excellent wifi and enjoy a juice, an excellent French press coffee or a herbal infusion while eating something really original for Urubamba, Cusco or even Peru: Raw Cakes. BTW, I didn't know something sweet and delicious could also be very healthy.Raw cakes are not baked, are gluten free, and contain mostly seeds and fruits. The Salted Caramel cake, that uses local "lucuma" as a base ingredient is a delicacy. Mabel offers homemade ice creams that are really great and come in elderberry, coffee and lucuma flavors; what makes a great combination with the raw cakes.Casa de la Abuela also prepares wood oven pizzas that are carefully made & served and their homemade lasagnas are excellent. Even my partner, who doesn't like pizza normally she ate two slices telling: "This is great!"Dear Antonio. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. I am so glad to hear that our staff made your stay enjoyable. You can follow us on our Facebook and Instagram pages to see our new dishes (New Cake Flavors). We hope to see you soon.

Best restaurant for tourists in Uruamba! Not only delicious typical dishes for a good price but also for a good reason: the Restaurant is run by the NGO Corazones para Perú which supports local people. If you're interested, you can get a lot more information inside. If not, you'll still have a delicious meal. ;)

The best Peruvian, Italian and Mexican food in the hands of kitchen professionals. Our diners recommend our tasty variety.
The Nachos are very crispy, the source with it is excellent, best I have here in Peru so far, highly recommanded. And you can see the kitchen from the hall, actually, with good view of the plaza and the mountains if you sit at the table outside.Thank you for your visit. We will wait for you. Come back soon!
