We specialize in Wood Fired Pizza, slow smoked BBQ and offer a wonderful selection of local craft beer on tap.
A salmon dinner a few weeks ago was excellent, with the salmon cooked just right and an interesting side. So the Chef's Choice pizza this week sounded fine: Flyin' Hawaiian, with pineapple and prosciutto. What could go wrong?First, it took forever. Usually pizzas are out within minutes. At least I'd ordered a half salad - the vinaigrette listed wasn't exactly what arrived, but okay - and it was nearly finished when the pizza arrived, covered with melted mozzarella to the point of overkill. You couldn't see what was underneath. Its pineapple tasted good - but this chunk of pork? Surely not prosciutto - maybe leftover pork loin? There was absolutely no prosciutto in the whole pizza, just ¼'thick pieces of chewy meat. When I asked the server, she came back to say that "the chef says that that is our prosciutto."Weird. Fluid definition, obviously. (And the offer to make another wasn't a choice - who wants another of the same?)I was also unexpectedly disappointed in the beer offerings. Usually there are 6-7 outstanding local beers among the draft choices, always some good seasonals. No, not this visit.. Nothing special. They offered the usual big brewery choices, just on draft. What fun is that?So it's as though something happened and the TwinOak we enjoyed a few weeks ago disappeared, and a lesser-quality option was put in its place. All I can say is that the salad was fresh and that a half-order is more than sufficient. Which isn't the point of visiting a place like TwinOaks....Thank you for providing us feedback about your experience. Our experiences of this restaurant have gone up and down over the years. Our last visit was disappointing thus confirming a consistency problem. The chicken was wet inside and the crust had separated from the chicken. The slaw lacked taste. The salad had plentiful toppings but actually needed more lettuce so that we weren't just eating a bowl of provel cheese. One of our main complaints is that the meal is also served immediately after the salads arrive so that you are forced to decide to eat your cold or hot food first. Service was just ok-the bill had a mistake. Most concerning is that once again the place was dirty. Just can't eat at a dirty restaurant.

I thoroughly enjoyed my salad made assembly line fashion but we could't converse because the decibel level was so high. I liked the various combinations of salads you could get but downrated my assessment because I wouldn't eat in the restaurant again. Try take out!

A sleek St Louis basement gastro pub. Basso lies beneath the Restaurant at the Cheshire in Clayton
My wife and I wanted to return for dinner to the Cheshire Restaurant (Boundary) but it was booked. Since they had the two other options (Fox & Hound or Basso), we looked at the menus and chose Basso. It was a very nice dinner with great service. It was a bit loud so that presented a few challenges. My wife ordered the steak. The portion wasn't exceptionally large but the flavor was excellent. (Odd - there was no side with it.) I ordered the margarita pizza and it was VERY good. Thanks for coming back to The Cheshire, Martin! Hope to see you again, soon!

Had high expectations due to great reviews here on TripAdvisor and itâs ranking as #18 in the city. Very confused by this rating as my experience did not measure up. Very warm outside AND Inside the restaurant on a busy Saturday evening. We were seated 25 minutes later than our reservation time (745pm) and comped a toasted ravioli. It was not so much about the lateness of being seated but the shortness and responses to questions about timing of being seated from the front of house staff that made this wait annoying. The caprese salad was good, dolmades and ravioli were ok, but the pasta with red sauce and sausage was unpleasant. I have never tasted a smokier red sauce. It almost tasted âburntâ. The sausage was also quite spicy and the pasta was nothing special- an inedible dish. The prices are quite good and itâs a family atmosphere, but I will not be returning.

We have friends who live in the area and think of Tavolo when planning an evening out with them. This family of restaurants is a great endorsement, but recognize that their menus are not identical. But the food is predictably good. We like the venue in U City; many of the restaurants in the area are far more casual. Thatâs not to say that TV is dressed up, it is very comfortable. The service is very good, TV is easy to find and there is an adjacent surface parking lot. TV is at the eastern end of The Loop, a bit out of the rush of the area. Weâll be back with more and different friends.

I was staying couple blocks away to be in court the next day. Picked up kale salad and minestrone. Both very good and priced well. I wish Iâd eaten in because atmosphere was very nice.

Ordered pizza for takeoutâdr. Dre. Good stuff. The crust was just the right combination of crunchy and chewy. Cheese and sauce were in good proportion. Toppings worked nicely together. Gal who took our phone call was very friendly and easy to hear and understand. Definitely a pizza I would recommend to visitors and locals of St. Louis!

Used to have to wait for a table...but the place was slower the night we went. Service pretty good....NOT for a quiet dinner but good atmosphere. The pizza was excellent and the toppings on my favorite salad (Bada Bing) plentiful. Great place to people watch and take in the vibe of The Loop....right on trolley line. Hard to resist the desserts next door...(create your own cookie and icecream sandwich combo!)
