Find out what Pizza restaurants to try in Turku. Turku (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈturku] ( listen); Swedish: Åbo [ˈoːbʊ] ( listen)) is a city on the southwest coast of Finland at the mouth of the Aura River, in the region of Southwest Finland. Turku, as a town, was settled during the 13th century and founded most likely at the end of the 13th century, making it the oldest city in Finland. It quickly became the most important city in Finland, a status it retained for hundreds of years. After Finland became part of the Russian Empire (1809) and the capital of the Grand Duchy of Finland was moved to Helsinki (1812), Turku continued to be the most populous city in Finland until the end of the 1840s, and it remains a regional capital and an important business and cultural center.

This is a chain restaurant, so do not expect much. After work buffet is ok, as it is not so expensive. Also the pizzas are fine as they bake these on open fire. Suitable place to go with friends on Sunday when you have a hangover.

Just into town, we've been on the road all day and we took a "shot-in-the-dark" chance at dining at a Finnish Italian Restaurant. Hey, the place looked interesting from the outside. Anyway, after a brief staff stumble upon first entering, things only got better and better. Great table with a nice view of the rive along with an attentive and well-informed staff made for a nice dining experience. And ya know what? These guys in Finland know how to do Italian. From the starters thru the main course, we were not disappointed, and in fact, my wife thought this was one of the better meals we had in our three-week tour of London, Finland, and Sweden. We had a nice conversation with the waiter about pairing wines, and the staff suggestion was spot on. When in Turku there are plenty of restaurant choices. I would recommend that Sergio's be one of your 'must' try spots while enjoying this lovely city. Cheers.

At last we managed to find an opportunity to visit this Trattoria and we were certainly not disappointed. Located just a few minutes walk from the Turku Cathedral the Trattoria Romana is the most Italian, Italian restaurant I have visited for quite some time. The pizzas we ordered were just perfect, the wine very good and the service efficient and discreet. We arrived just after opening time (open 11-23) and had a good choice of table location but I would advise any potential diners to arrive early too as this restaurant is extremely popular and can get quite crowded at peak meal times. Without a doubt this must be recommended over and above all the other city centre pizza restaurants.

Lots of restaurants in Turku are closed on Sunday. After attending the English service at the Turku Cathedral at 16:00, we found that only Pubs and Cafes were open. We were pleasantly surprised by the very thin crust pizza at Niska! Whoever heard of smoked salmon on pizza? We found the combination of the salmon, pickled onions, and rucola (like Arugula) was fantastic! The atmosphere in this little pub was pleasant and the service was very good!

The indoors are quite a small space so it is fairly tight, especially for the staff who seemed to struggle just a little when serving customers. There is also a lovely outdoors area but only for dry weather. Food was altogether very good ( maybe the pizza was not quite as superb as expected but very ok). The Korean buns were so delicious that you easily overeat, the portion could easily feed two.
