Although Tucson's fantastic weather, national parks and forests and desert provide the perfect environment for tons of outdoor recreational activities, this city of half a million people also has its share of history and culture. With a history that goes back much further than many of its southwestern neighbors, Tucson boasts turn-of-the-century architecture, historic neighborhoods, museums and the Mission San Xavier del Bac, a still-functioning 18th-century mission considered one of the most beautiful in the U.S. Mexican and Native American influences are pervasive, and the city has a distinctly Western flavor. There's also a college-town atmosphere, thanks to the University of Arizona, which has its own share of museums and a science center. Whether golfing at a world-class golf resort, horseback riding, hiking in the wilderness, discovering desert flora and fauna at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum or exploring pre-Columbian and other art at the Tucson Art Museum, you'll have a mind-boggling array of things to do.

Another restaurant tried based on TA reviews which we thought was average. We stopped by for lunch and were surprised that there was only one other couple in the restaurant. The service was good but the food was just average. It’s worth a try if you’re close by but don’t expect to be blown away by the food.

Gourmet craft pizza place in Downtown Tucson. Very unusual location -- place was a funeral home! The Tough Luck Club is the former basement morgue. Full bar with crafted beers and cocktails. Specialty is their crafted gourmet pizzas, but they do offer other items. I had the fennel sausage & roasted peppers pizza, which was very good.

Came as a group and we got lucky with our timing to get a table as this place is first come first serve. Order at the bar meant that we were able to order when we were ready. They had a wide range of choice from burgers to pizza and cheesesteaks. The only sides that came with your burger or sandwich was coleslaw or potato salad which meant that you can get a bunch of different sides to share. The burgers were big and so were the sandwiches. Great to place come if you you want something casual and fairly quick.

Rocco's Little Chicago

We are always looking for great pizza places. We've found a couple of thin-crust, Neapolitan style that are very good. Full disclosure, my husband makes the best pizza this side of the Colorado River.Anyway, Chicago style has eluded us since we left San Francisco and Capo's Pizza in North Beach.Rocco's makes a decidedly top notch attempt to be the best Chicago Pizza we've eaten in town. I'm telling you, for the entire day, I ate 1 1/2 pieces of Chicago Fire and it kept me full for the entire evening/night!We've had it for meals for a couple of days, I'm serious! It is really, really good. Love the tomato sauce on the top; you can tell it's freshly made. The vegetable half was also good and equally filling. They very kindly took off all the green bell peppers for me.It's not close to where we live, but if we're in the area, it's a good place to get a substantial, tasty pizza.
