The town that gave the country (and port wine) its very name, Porto is Portugal’s second-largest metropolis after Lisbon. Sometimes called Oporto, it's an age-old city that has one foot firmly in the industrial present. The old town, centered at Ribeira, was built on the hills overlooking the Douro River, and today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 14th-century São Francisco church is a main attraction, as are the local port wine cellars, mostly located across the river at Vila Nova de Gaia.

Familiar Italian Restaurant...
On my last night in Porto I finally wanted to have some pasta. After searching for a while this place come out on top. While I didn't have any pasta, I did enjoy my meal here. Service was quick and the waiters were all very friendly. I ended up ordering the melanzane alla parmigiana (eggplant parmesan). Don't have any real remarks on it. Eggplant was done well, sauce tasted good. The only thing I found a bit disappointing is that they didn't serve any tiramisu. If you're looking for some taste food at a fair price, this is the place.Hi... Thank you for your feedback. Did you order any Tiramisu?? We have it and it's amazing... Try next time ;)

Come to our house to try our proposals Pizzas, Saltimbocca, salted specialties or ..Tiramisù! Freshly prepared food, as in true Italian tradition.
We looked this place up and wandered to it from our apartment. Was a Sunday night, a few other couples in, great waiter service-efficient and helped us through the menu that was in Portugese. Great thin and huge pizza, lovely bottle of Italian white wine, all for just over 20 Euros. Not in heart of town but worth finding.
Where to eat Bar food in Porto: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Apego is a little restaurant in the Marquês area of Porto. Here the food is simple, made with quality local ingredients while respecting the natural changing of the seasons.
While traveling in Porto, my partner and I were looking for some place off the tourist path to have dinner. We started asking all the locals we met where they thought we should go. Everyone gave us a short list of just a few places and all of them included this place. We walked by one afternoon to check it out. It doesn't look like much from the outside when it's closed. But the food and service here are excellent. A chef who dutifully and creativly prepares a small menu of 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 3 desserts (with a veg option) and one lone waiter. That's it, a staff of three pulls this off. The food is simple, beautifully prepared and creatively conceived. There are a lot of restaurants in the central core of the tourist area in Porto. Some are even quite good. But this place is the ethos of good food in Porto. If you want excellent food, with a good wine list in a quiet and relaxing setting, don't miss this.Thank you so much for your visit and feedback. We are so glad you had a good experience. See you soon!
