We are lucky to get a seat without reservation as it was fully booked by the locals. We love the truffle pasta, broccoli spaghetti & lemon chicken. The white wine is awesome!

Seems like a family restaurant on the first floor of there house.Pizzas were great. Maybe the best we had in Italy during this visit. The aroticini, lamb meat on skewers, which is the local dish, was also very tasty.Prices are low.if you stay nearby, for sure it is a place to eat.

We visited the Sherlock Holmes with a party of eleven Italian friends on a very busy Saturday evening. This is obviously a very popular local venue with a mix of customers ranging from a children's party, family groups to young couples and groups of friends. I think we were the only English customers in the place and were dutifully introduced to the staff by our hosts and I have to say that we were made to feel very welcome. The main attraction is obviously the food, particularly the fantastic choice of pizzas. Our table choose a variety to suit our tastes. Because it was so busy we did have to wait a little longer than normal for the freshly cooked pizzas to arrive. We were all served together and everyone really did enjoy their food and it is the food that leads to my recommendation of this restaurant for anyone in the Guardiagrele area who enjoys a good freshly cooked pizza. A speciality of the Sherlock Holmes seems to be pizzas served by the meter which are served on large oblong wooden blocks. These were very popular with groups and come with a variety of toppings ready sliced for sharing. We had a great night and were there for most of the night talking and having a drink after our food. There certainly was no pressure to leave before you were ready to. Try the Sherlock Holmes, you will enjoy it.

Freshly made simple classy pizza before your very eyes. Eat it there or take it away. Cold beer for about a euro a litre, friendly service and a bonus dessert menu if you're polite. Highly recommended.

Guardiagrele's multi-award winning La Sorgente has clearly started a trend for 'gourmet pizza' - because here's another in nearby Arielli.Pleasant enough inside and should've been enlivened by fact the kitchen's mostly in the restaurant - except nothing very much seemed to happen there all evening...Menu impenetrable. Asked for guidance from the owner/maitre d' and three pizze of his choice duly arrived in succession. All were perfectly OK in their way, but tbh, much-of-a-muchness, with zero wow-factor. Personally, I wouldn't have called them pizza, as all seemed to have a mix of cooked and uncooked toppings assembled on a pre-cooked bready base, as opposed to a combination of raw dough and raw topping fused together in a pizza oven. The end result was a bit like eating superior open sandwiches, but a long way removed from what most of us would call 'pizza'.Maybe these are to be found elsewhere on the menu ? Who knows ? But if you place yourself in the boss's care and his choice of items representing (presumably) the best there is doesn't cut it, then you don't exactly feel inclined to rush back.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We met up with friends who had been before we were very glad they recommended it was a lovely evening. The food was excellent the service was very friendly and efficient. All round a very good experience and we will certainly come back.

This is not just a simple "pizzeria".It might look like because the environment is simple and familiar. But the pizza-maker is a professional expert ( with academic degree) in food bio-technologies from University of Bologna. The ingredients are tested and approved by himself in person only if fresh & locally grown. The incredible procedure of "48hours rising " makes this pizza the one you will digest in a blink af an eye. Slow food initiatives happening here . And the price is as little as that of a 'normal' pizzeria. The real value is simply double !!Book in advance !
