We tried "Scala" restaurant out of curiosity, and looking forward for a pizza (also considering other good TA reviews).The experience was extremely disappointing.I had the unlucky idea of starting with a "caprese": it was made of some slices of tomato, and 6 thin slices of normal mozzarella (the original one should be done with buffalo mozzarella!). Not sure that was really worth the price of 16CHF......As for the pizza, we had a "calabrese" (almost decent) and a pizza with ham (very basic, poor-quality ham). Also, I am not sure to understand why pizzas are prepared in an oval shape...We did not dare to ask for a dessert.Staff was relatively nice, and service was quick.In absolute terms, prices look reasonable, but if you consider the food/ingredients quality, it is simply not worth.Don't think I'll ever come back.

We picked our âjet lag recoveryâ hotel on the fly, and found this restaurant nearby for dinner. The pizza was very good, with the portions perfect for one for the smaller size. The lasagna was very good. The service on the patio could have been more attentive, we went looking for servers for refills and the check.

Ths is a very lovely place.We had no booking, we turned up rather tired after a long flight and an argument over some unwarranted rudeness by a barmaid at our hotel nearby and within five minutes our good humour had returned.It is relaxed, easygoing, casually elegant and welcoming.The waiter was on top of his brief, helped us to decide on wine and what to eat, didn't rush us or make a fuss, was attentive and efficient and otherwise stayed out of the way. He moved at speed all evening but never made a fuss, hardly a noise, floated really. He's one of the really good ones.We sat near the pizza kitchen which is at the back of the restaurant. It was an education to see those guys do a great job. And it was delicious. They use some special dough which is just gorgeous.And the price was more than agreeable, in a city where even the most basic orders can make your eyes water.If you are nearby, do go. Even if you're in the centre of town, it's not fifteen minutes door to door by train to Oerlikon and a short walk from there.Dear Liege-Bastogne-Liege,Thank you for your outstanding review and kind words about our team. We ate here on our last night before flying out of Zurich. The restaurant was across from our hotel, so it was convenient. We ordered lamb on a grill with vegetables and french fries, spaghetti and raclette casserole for dinner. The lamb was served sliced with a hot grill to the table so you can cook it yourself. It was very good.We also had a torta and gelato for dessert. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the wine and service were good.

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The pizza was probably the best ever, the service not so much.The Good.1. The pizza was amazingly good! Probably the best ever and that is why the place gets 5 stars. The pizzas were thin Italian style, the sauce was great and the toppings plentiful and tasty. The ham and pepperoni was superb. 2. The other food was good and the outside space was nice to sit in.2. Online reservation was very easy.The Bad.1. From the outside, the place does not look the best. Outside tables are around a fountain and are quite tightly spaced whilst the inside is pleasantly decorated.2. The service was definitely hit and miss. Despite having a reservation, the very busy waiters took some time to seat us. The food was quite slow coming but at the end they ordered us a taxi which was helpful.3. By international standards, the place is expensive but reasonable for Switzerland. A pizza was about £20. OverallThe pizza was amazing and it is a pizza restaurant so despite more average service, it has to be 5 stars. Would definitely return.

Stopped here for dinner on a hot 30-32 degree day. Absolutely stifling inside. After walking there, we were hot, and asked for tap water as a first request. Wanted to rehydrate, then enjoy the meal and drinks.Stunned to be informed that we could not have it unless we ordered wine.Subsequently, it became apparent that beer or other drinks were ok, as well, but even then, when we ordered drinks, tap water came in a carafe, and we were left with a choice of putting the ordered drinks in the single glass we had or the water?So, difficult to drink it anyway - this just left a bad taste. Never before been refused H20 way. Pizzas were ok, nothing spectacular, except the meat ones, which were literally swimming in grease. In the words of a eat almost anything teen - "I like a little grease, but I don't want to drink it"Nice to have choice of small or large portion, though price difference minimal for size difference. Those who ordered large couldn't finish - it was large.The small pasta was surprisingly very small - but reportedly very goodDecor was quite nice, and service quick and efficient.dont know how it compares to other restaraunts in the area - doesn't seem like there are many great choices, but were not impressed by this one ( after choosing it over another nearby pizza restaraunt based on reviews ( though it still may be better, didn't compare)

This is a 3.5 rating, but I can't split circles unfortunately. We walked here for dinner while staying at nearby hotel during our recent trip to Zurich. We sat outside and the outdoor space was comfortable. We had gnocchi with gorgonzola and a pasta dish with chicken after enjoying an appetizer of bruschetta. The food was good, as was the service. Prices seem a bit high, even by Zurich standards. This place is worth a try if you are in the area.

A colleague and I visited Al dente for dinner since our hotel was close. We were both happy with that decision.The service was very good. They were attentive, friendly and took care of us throughout the dinner service.The menu has enough food choices to satisfy a group of hungry folks. I had the tuna and my colleague a pasta dish. Although the tuna was a little different than I'm used to getting in the states, it was really good. My colleague thoroughly enjoyed his meal.They have a nice wine list with plenty of wines and prices to choose from so that is appreciated.The cost is not cheap but seemed in line given being in Zurich. I recommend Al dente to anyone craving quality Italian fare. Enjoy!
