We stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day walking around the city. We read the reviews and went in. The restaurant was empty! It took them more than 5 minutes to realize we were there. Service was OK, the waiter did not make any suggestions and seemed to be in a bad mood. This place is overpriced. Pizzas were between 195-215 pesos and, although they are a good size, the quality of the ingredients is not that great. We shared and did not finish it as it was not worth the calories! The salad was good.

El Sol y la Luna is a family business founden on 1978. Since its origins it has been one of the most important cultural centers of the city with art exhibitions and concerts. Some of the artists that have had shows here are: Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Toled
Perfect!! We were tired and wanted takeout, and it was no problem whatsoever, pizza and filet mignon, and a glass of wine.. great authentic pizza, tender beef in creamy mushroom sauce, great scalloped potatoes and salad. And great courteous, relaxed service, to the point of the server, upon me putting 600 MX on the counter for a pizza, a steak plate and three glasses of wine, protestingly pointing to the bill, and saying: "no, it's only 451MX" , politely taking the 15 % only once I insisted, and giving me the change to the peso. Leaving Oaxaca tomorrow, but will return each time I come to this charming smoggy town!!

Cute ambience but a fried chicken cutlet with a little melted cheese on top and ketchup on the side and French fries is not chicken parmigiana. The waiters try hard but until someone takes the kitchen in hand and teaches it true Italian cooking this is not a place to go.

This is a pleasant looking restaurant with mixed reviews and apparently a nice area on the roof for dining. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the whole experience. We were told that the roof was closed, so we were shown a table in the downstairs area. This was fine. At first our waiter was attentive, but after we were served he spent most of his time behind the counter using his phone. We had to rob a nearby table of salt and flag down another employee to order more wine, get our check, etc. When we first arrived there was one other couple eating, but they left before we were served, so for most of the time we were the only customers. The bread and house wine we were first served were okay, but our two dishes of pasta with tomato based sauces were surprisingly bland and indistinguishable from each other. No Parmesan cheese was offered for the pasta. Perhaps pizza would have been a better choice. Thank you very much for your comments, we already take actions, it is very important for us your feedback, as it helps us to correct our performance, we hope you continue enjoying your trip and we invite you to return soon to Oaxaca and our restaurantregardsHéctor Conzatti.
After a couple of weeks on the road we wanted an Italian salad with chicken. This restaurant did a nice goats cheese salad and also did a main chicken dish. When we asked for the salad to be done with strips of chicken they made no problem and produced just what we wanted. Life saving!

Artisan pizzas stone oven made, with the freshest ingredients. We have options for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs.
I had found La Matatena through a google search for gluten free oaxaca. We stumbled upon it as we were exploring the city in a cute alcove of a building. It was exciting to see gluten free written clearly on their sign as I have coeliac disease. Their gluten free pizza bases are made of quinoa and rice flour and they also have gluten free pasta and beer options as well as vegan options. I ordered a half and half gf pizza of goat cheese and tamarind sauce on one side and ham and red pepper on the other. Cross contamination consideration was amazing as mine came out on a slip of baking paper whereas my partners just came out normally. For a coeliac, this is wonderful to see. The pizza was incredibly tasty and the staff were attentive and so kind. I really recommend coming here for those seeking a safe tasty gluten free meal.

Boulenc is dedicated and focussed on providing nutritional food and spreading our knowledge to the community. âMasa madreâ or sourdough is our speciality, a natural yeast fermentation formed with flour and water providing probiotics that give our bread it
The quality of the bread is really, really good. Besides the pastries, we also ate lunch there once. I had the spiciest Banmih Iâve ever had, it had some whole toasted chilies inside. My wife had the best sandwich, a ham and cheese pannini that was out of this world. Prices are high, and the service is so so, but the bread is heavenly.

Mexita es un restaurante de cocina SurItaliana, de antiguas origines Napolitanas.
Our group dropped in here, and was seated promptly with no issues, although there was no table large enough in the outdoor section of the restaurant. We ordered wine, and two pizzas, which were ample for a group of five. The house special was a mushroom and jamon pizza which was a garlic lovers' delight. We also had a three cheese pizza, which was excellent. Great place to eat.

We ate dinner here on the spur of the moment. Service was very friendly. Our waiter was practicing his English and it was very good and he was very pleasant and helpful. appetizers/salads were good and nicely presented. We ordered the Osso Bucco which was good but a little dry. They had a wood fired pizza oven and I might try that the next time.
