I know the Italians don't eat Pizza or Pasta for main course... but the food they serve at La Vita Bella is delicious. We had one plate of sardines between 2 of us. The moment we walked in the door we saw that the portions were more than generous. Our sardines were nicely grilled and served in a bit of olive oil with garlic, peppers and spring onions, accompanied by some bread and garlic butter. We then had a salad (my wife) with prawns and beef, which was very tender and tasty. I had a spaghetti with prawns and salmon in a creamy gorgonzola sauce. A lovely dish. We had coffee's afterwards and my espresso was up to Italian standard, Excellent. The bottle of white Sicilian house wine we had was also excellent, much more flavour than most white house wines. The service was also prompt, polite, knowledgeable and charming. What more can you ask for???

We happened upon Il Senso because of their chalkboard sign on the main street. We're so glad we did! They welcomed us and our dog on the small terrace. The wine and beer were good, as were the pizzas. My husband ordered the Il Senso and he said it was the best combination of ingredients he's had in Europe -- spicy jalapenos, chorizo, spinach, and feta. My vegetarian pizza was also good, but nothing special.

Very popular Italian restaurant, centrally located on the Damplein. Good menu with plenty to choose from. A friendly cat entertaining the guests outside. Portions were generous and food was as it should be. Nothing memorable. Though our little boy said the Pasta Carbonara was the best ever! (But it always is when he gets it served) Service was friendly, but hard to contact when one wanted refill of drinks.

The food in this place is really good, considering the very low and reasonable price. As an appetiser I had the bruschetta pomodoro (3â¬), don't expect amazing presentation, but the bruschetta was tasty and had good flavour. As main I ordered a pizza diavola (7,50â¬). Nice big thin crusted pizza. The location of this restaurant (almost empty shopping mall) and the service aren't the best. But the food is really delicious. You can also order a week menu (either fish or meat) with an appetiser, main and dessert for 24â¬. Fish is really fresh and the chef does not make anything of which he is not sure of the quality (it happened that the table next to me did not get some kind of clamp as the chef was unsure if they were still ok, instead he gave some additional king prawns)
