Consigliatissimo!

On a 6 week vacation a few years ago we decided to visit a few really out of the way places that were generally within an area we wanted to stop at. A close friend from Aruba, who grew up in this area said we needed to stop here for the best pizza we would ever taste. We decided to stop. After searching around for a while, in a very small town but with no GPS, we finally found the smallish entrance to the restaurant. Inside we found a relatively small, pine paneled room with the oven, showcases and a few seats within. We were immediately greeted by the owner, Isabella and her partner with effusive warmth and smiles. Unfortunately my Italian is extremely limited, and only her partner had any knowledge of English. Fortunately Italian is easily understood by using hand gestures, pointing and imagination. Additionally, interpreting Italian in a pizzeria isn't too hard. We were subsequently led through a doorway into a very large, airy, well lighted and modern dining room. There was no way to image this was here from the front or outside. Menus were given out and each of us tried to figure out what we wanted. At Pizzeria MangiaMondo the only items on the menu are pizza, salad and non alcoholic drinks. After about 7 minutes we had it all figured out, with help from Isabella's partner and a few guesses. Our only problem was figuring out how to order milk for my daughter. With sign language and the sound of a cow, we succeeded. A few minutes later the salads arrived, with dressings that were unusual but extremely tasty. The balsamic vinegar was aged about 25 years and was absolutely superb. Then came the individual, custom designed pizza's. These were perfection. Everything was fresh, local where possible and hand produced. The cheese was delicious, the meat topping well flavored and the crust exactly as I like it. After finishing dinner, we all thought about ordering another 3 to take to our hotel. If there was a small kitchen in the hotel room, we would have; but refrigerating the pizza and then reheating them would have diminished the flavor and spoiled delicious memories. The village that Pizzeria MangiaMondo resides in (Mezzolombardo) is well off the beaten path and main highway, so a map is necessary to find it. I think it is only open for dinner so call and check it out. This was a real surprise visit and sone of, if not the best pizza's we have ever eaten. Stop and enjoy!

Very large restaurant with very wide choice; generally I don't trust places with so much offer on the menu and such large seats plan. Clearly I can only speak from a limited selection of dishes tasted, but the quality was good, particularly I liked the risotto cooked in Teroldego wine finished with local cheese. The Trento Doc wine was excellent. The spaghetti alla moda Pino were not memorable.

We arrived to Mezzocorona early, about 2 hours before our appointment at Dorigati for wine-tasting. Da Demetrio is located just a couple of blocks from Dorigati and on the same square as the main church. On a sunny day, you can choose to sit outside on the square or pick a table in the spacious inside dining room. We chose the latter, mostly because it was too hot outside. The place is light, spacious and comfortable, although modestly furnished. Mezzocorona is, after all, a small town. You walk through the bar to get to the dining area, which overlooks the pizza oven. The tables were clean, with attractive tablecloths. Service was simple, friendly and efficient. We each ordered a pizza for one, but of course, it was far too large for one. The crust was thin and perfectly baked, while the dough was prepared right in front of us. There was a wide selection of ingredients. Mine was La Capricciosa, loaded with mushrooms, artichoke heart and pepperoni. Simply delicious, although I could only finish half. A 1/4 L of house wine was quite satisfying and of good quality. There were many other choices on the menu, not just pizza, but our driver advised us to try the pizza, which he knew quite well. We skipped dessert, although there was an attractive selection: there was no room for it. An excellent coffee crowned our meal. Clearly worth the stop.

What a great spot! Came as a group of 4 Americans to Spormaggiore on an Italian heritage-quest. The waitstaff here made us feel totally at home and were very helpful, despite only moderate English. Their food (Pizzas! Cheese plate!) was all very good and extremely reasonable.

Ristorante-pizzeria tipico alpino di recente ristrutturazione. Offriamo pizze cotte in forno a legna e piatti tipici della tradizione trentina. Possibilità di accogliere gruppi in saletta-stube nel piano interrato.
After eating here twice, I would list this as my number one restaurant in the area. On both occasions there were lots of local enjoying the family oriented atmosphere. The service was quick and very friendly. The food was prepared and served in a very appeasing way. Whether it as pizza and a beer or a more upscale selection, everything was right on target.

This pizzeria was the right mix of food, setting, and service to accommodate any travelers taste. Evidently it is also a big hit with the local residents as well. We ate here twice with in a week and found the quality and service very consistent.
