Loved the vibe of this place....great lighting and style for a pleasant evening. The service from our waiter was top notch....efficient, friendly but not intrusive. My husband couldnât stop talking about his pesto pasta dish and my pizza was delicious. Well worth a visit if visiting Pittsburgh.

I had the distinct pleasure to dine here with my wife and granddaughters. We ordered an eclectic sampling of the menu with our waitpersons guidance. I did a carry out order after watching the Pens hockey game this past Sunday night while staying at the Renaissance Hotel. It was going on midnight and they were busy as could be. I ordered the whole 16" inch Italian hoagie for myself, a whole 16" Giovanni's Reuben hoagie for my wife and the cheese Ravioli for my son.Considering how busy they were the service was quick and courteous. The order took what I would consider a normal amount of time to fill. They actually finished it quicker than I thought they would considering how busy they were.Went back to the hotel and proceeded to enjoy our meals. The hoagies were piled high with toppings and were great. My son really enjoyed his cheese ravioli and the portion for it was excellent too.The food and portions were excellent and the service was great. If you need a nice quick meal with a lot of different options I would definitely recommend Giovanni's!Thank you! We hope to see you again when in Pittsburgh :)

We ordered a large plain Sicilian with extra cheese. It was delivered to our hotel ahead of the quoted time which was awesome. The pizza was nothing special...we paid $3.xx for extra cheese and the pizza still had spots in the middle without cheese. Iâd hate to see the pizza without extra cheese. Overall it was just mediocre (it canât be too exciting when itâs just plain, I know) but it wasnât the best plain pizza weâve ever had.

Last night we were shocked to be at Piccolo Forno at 6:30 PM to find many empty tables. Given our past years of experience, of course, we were wondering why. We have been regulars at Piccolo Forno since its inception, enjoying innovative cuisine prepared with imagination and quality. Our recent visit was a grave disappointment. Instead of refreshing salads featuring such ingredients as fennel (gone!) or ferro (gone!) was something called Salad Verte, This consisted of welted greens, a few radishes and cherry tomatoes that obviously has been prepared much earlier in the day. By the time 7:00 PM rolled around it was presented as just plain soggy and unappetizing. Gone are the delicious mushroom filled crepes and vegetarian pastas. Instead, we found dishes such as heavy Pittsburgh style meat lasagna and non-descript tasting mussels. Piccolo Forno has been our "go to" restaurant where previously we have eperienced fresh, tasty and unusual dishes. Not so anymore. Its choices now gravitate towards the mean. In quality it has decended to mediocrity. Out of nostalgia we will give it one more try. If the fare does not improve, we will mourn what Piccolo Forno use to be and move on.
