Early evening mid week booking, so was pleasantly surprised how busy it was. I ask for carbonara, which wasn't on the menu. Low and behold they cooked it for me and it was delicious. Used my meal voucher to get one main free. Thank you

Authentic Italian. Great choice of menu. We can highly recommend the mussels , lasagne, linguine & seafood risotto. Fantastic choice of wines too. I like the fact the owner always takes time to chat at the end of his customers meals. If we want it Ian food we would always choose here. Many thanks for your kind review. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thought we would treat ourselves, along with our daughter and granddaughter, to an early evening meal but it wasnât quite the treat we expected. The bruschetta was soggy as the bread was hardly toasted and wasnât even as good as I make at home although the garlic bread with tomato was very nice. The carbonara was ok but came without the requested extra chicken. The lamb wasnât particularly good and the risotto very ordinary. The dessert choices were limited on the early bird menu and the ice cream accompanying the chocolate fudge cake had strawberry sauce on it which wasnât pleasant at all and definitely did nothing for the dessert, I left most of it. Wonât be making a return visit in a hurry.

It was our first visit to The Crown, in Bollington, since a new team took over in December. The menu featured a five-bean chilli â but since I went in search of the perfect chilli â and in the process discovered Heston Blumenthalâs recipe â Iâve been consistently disappointed by restaurant offerings. So, as this was The Crown, not the Fat Duck â I decided to try the Jerk Chicken. I wasnât expecting too much â I was wrong, boy was I wrong. Now any chef can chuck in the chillis to crank up the scovilles but without the right mix of spices and flavours youâre just heading for a blistered tongue and disappointed taste buds.To be very honest the jerk chicken was hot as Hades â and certainly not for the faint hearted â but the flavours were a revelation. Accompanied by some perfectly cooked wild rice I was almost in spice heaven. She who must be obeyed had the same â and was equally knocked out. Two of our friends shared a huge portion of spare ribs and a âhangingâ kebab â which turned out to be two kebabs suspended from a metal spike enabling the provided butter to drip from top to bottom. Our two other friends went for a beef lasagne and the five-bean chilli â which was pronounced âhotâ!!!I said earlier that I was almost in heaven with my jerk chicken â almost, as the sauce, or if youâre posh jus, was just screaming out for some bread to soak it up.Thankfully a nod to the waitress and a request resulted in a plate of freshly-baked, lightly charred, french bread. Now I really was in heaven.Adding three beers, a couple of bottles of wine, a couple of additional glasses of wine and several fruit juice and sodas resulted in a bill for just shy of £130.00 â for six people. Will we be going back â like a shot â but be warned, the jerk chicken (and the chilli) isnât for the timorous.
