ASK Italian in Epsom is a place for great food and warm service. Think fresh bread made to tear and share. A glass of fine wine worth deserving of your time. Delicious main dishes prepared the traditional way. Everything we know and love about Italian foo
Usual very high standards this weekend. This time we sat further back inside it and i saw that they have a side entrance that is available for wheelchairs etc Simply go to the left of the front stairs if you have mobility issues.
I popped in for a cappuccino and waited for 15 minutes in the queue whilst, the only two members of staff made small talk (or shall i say long talk) with practically every customer they served. Time is definitely not of the essence in that place especially with just two people on shift in the mornings. To make matters worse the empty tables were filthy and hadn't been cleared. When I asked the female staff to clear the table i wanted to sit at she stormed off in a huff and returned to wipe it clean once the red mist had settled. I was absolutely astounded as I'd never seen anything like it nor encountered such an angry member of staff . Firstly two people working during the most busiest period of the day doesn't cut the mustard. I've noticed that it's a common occurrence. Secondly the staff need to speed up especially when the place is understaffed. Fifteen minutes waiting in the queue to be served is ludricous at best. This place wouldn't last 5 minutes in many parts of the world where cafe owners take their craft seriously. Thirdly, Costa is not cheap so if i've chosen to spend my hard earned money there instead of the handful of cafes within a stone's throw then, i expect to enjoy my beverage at a clean table without attitude from the staff. What this place needs is serious competition.

My husband and I opted to have a celebration lunch at Viva's in Dorking for our 26th wedding anniversary. The food was superb. Peter, our waiter, was very attentive. He recognised us as soon as we arrived, as we have eaten there on several occasions, including our wedding anniversary last year. I have had something different from the menu each time I've been there and I haven't been disappointed once. Certainly a gem of a restaurant in the heart of Dorking, Surrey.
visited with family one recent weekday evening on spec. Good bits, warm open clean atmosphere. Average cost for offer for local area. parking easy outside on high street. Not so good bits: staff need additional training- largely dis-interested in customers. Main point of contact was the manager. Again in need of customer service training, simply does not feel right... a bit raw around the edges. Food is OK ish, much better on offer around the local area on the High Street or on Church St for the same cost.Interesting cocktail menu, good range ..but be clear on the 2 for 1 pricing..if in doubt ask.Would go again but probably will give it a few months for the management team to think through similar feedback from other guests and act on it.

Some one recently complained they were rushed into ordering. This was not the case for us. We found the service excellent. Really enjoyed my sea bass. Two large fillets which were much bigger than anywhere else I've had them. We were there midweek so fairly quiet and the 2 or 3 children had gone by 8.00.

Decided to visit upon recommendation. Very disappointed..Main course.. ordered Risotto Spianaci (£16.50). Definitely not worth the money as it tasted and looked like it had been been slopped on my plate after 4 minutes in the microwave. Such a shame as I was expecting so much more! Desert.. Tiramisu (£5.50). It was never claimed to be home made but after one mouthful I realised it tasted and looked like it was mainly long life squirty cream and I couldnât eat it. I made the waitress aware of this but all she said was âIâll mention it to the governorâ. The âgovernorâ did not make an appearance, no apology and it remained on the bill. Total bill for a shared starter, 2 main courses, 2 deserts, 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers was very nearly £100. This included a service charge added to the bill. They must realise they need to add it on without asking as they most certainly wouldnât be receiving it otherwise. Definitely wonât be going back, there are other much nicer and more appreciative restaurants in Leatherhead to spend my money in.

My favourite pasta for lunch is goats cheese alforno. The portions are great value for money and the food is delicious. You can also always find a voucher code to save a few extra pennies which is great too.

We picked the hottest night of the summer ( 38) to go out and although the front of the restaurant was opened right up it was terribly hot and humid- fans, if on, werenât doing anything. There were six of us and we had booked- probably advisable if a number of people in the group. In the evening it is possible to park in the semi pedestrian area right outside the restaurant but this is closed to traffic during the day. We went quite early before it became too busy- necessary on a hot night. Food is typical Italian with a number of similar choices in each group, such as pizza, pasta etc. Food is good and well presented and the few staff are friendly- probably a family concern.
