Staff: superb, professional and friendly. Food: freshly prepared. Garlic bread was great. Sampler appetizer is very good but without calamari. We were told they were out of calamari. Menu contains at least 5 items with calamari. Lobster ravioli: this is delicious.Fried shrimp parmigiana: avoid this., taste is overwhelmed by sauce and surprisingly contained chicken.BYOB restaurant

Located in Toms River, NJ, next to the Marquee Theater, Joey D's Pizzeria & Restaurant offers a full menu in a modern, yet casual, atmosphere. Our hand-tossed, thin-crust, brooklyn-style pizza is baked to crispy perfection in our brick oven, using fresh d
Our first visit to Joey D's was a pleasant surprise. We decided to try several items and take them "to go'. My wife said that the Margherita pizza was very close to what her grandmother from Naples would make. The chicken Stromboli and the eggplant /pepper/cheese panini were top shelf. Their prices are very fair. We can't wait until our next visit. They even have stuffed artichokes. Don't ask me how to pronounce it in Italian!

Mellow Mushroom is a funky, art-filled chain pizzeria featuring craft beer, calzones & creative stone-baked Southern style pizzas.
A friend took me to Mellow Mushroom in Toms River. Although I had passed by on Route 37 probably hundreds of times before, this place does not stand out, and I had no idea what it was. Turns out its an Atlanta-based restaurant chain, over 40 years old, they have over 100 locations, but I had never heard of them before. Checking their website, it looks like this location, their only one in New Jersey, is also their furthest north outpost. I'll bet the folks at Mellow Mushroom headquarters call them the Yankees. Now ⦠if you have read some of my other reviews, you know that, generally, I don't frequent chain restaurants. Little regional chains are OK, but I want to know there is an owner who cares in the kitchen. Another reason is, here in New Jersey, who needs to go to a chain restaurant for pizza? And especially a southern based chain restaurant? There are plenty of real Italians here in New Jersey, and there's a real Italian restaurant or Pizzeria on every corner. Yet here we were. Its a pretty big place. Walking in, I first notice a game room with an air hockey table, a giant Jenga game, some kind of basketball thing, and others. Next I see signs about live music several nights each week. We go to the bar and sit down. The bartender comes over to take our order. My friend has already told me about their Holy Shiitake pizza. Sounds good. Lets split one. But how big? We decide a medium might be fine for two people. And what to drink? I usually consume very little alcohol, but this place has a rotating selection of about fifty beers on tap. I pick one from the beer menu. (Yes, they have a menu just for beer!) The bartender has to look around to find where is the tap for that beer. As we are sipping our beers and talking, I look around at the décor. There are lots of pipes going everywhere. They are supposed to give you the impression that they are the pipes carrying the beers to the taps, but most of them are just cosmetic. Still ⦠interesting. Our Holy Shiitake pizza arrives. Its steaming hot, and it looks beautiful. Even though I'm an experienced New Jersey pizza-eater, rather than risking burning my mouth on gooey melted mozzarella, I ask for a knife and fork. I cut off a bite-sized piece and taste it. Pretty good! The toppings are great, but the crust is soft and chewy ⦠not crispy like what you would get at that real Italian pizzeria on the next block. Still ⦠enjoyable in its own way. The medium pizza was just the right size. Three big slices for each of us. Prices were a little on the high side, but not outrageous. But the real question is ⦠would I come back? I think yes, but maybe next time I would try one of the non-Italian items on their very extensive menu.
I am very impressed for a fast food restaurant especially a Pizza Hut. I thought the food was really good for a highway rest stop. The cheese pizza I had was hot and loaded with gooey cheese was freshly made. It is a small pizza but very filling. I also had an order of three bread sticks with their tomato sauce which is a very spicy sauce. They were a nice size and there was plenty of sauce for dipping.Okay, I know it is all commercial and premade but still the service that night could not have been friendlier to me and the food was so fresh and not the standard sitting around for hours. Some one was doing something right that night.

Just moved to the area and have been searching for good pizza. Think we've found it here. I had family in town from Chicago (we know about the pizza in Chicago) that were originally from Jersey. So they wanted some really good Jersey Pizza. I had been to the Charlie's Pizza on Fischer and that was good so we gave this Charlie's a try. They did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and the pizza was delicious! They also have a bar, which was not too noisy, so it was great to have a beer with my pizza. Will definitely be back.

Being going to this Dominos for some time. They now use real cheese and use a different technique to cook the pizza. The menu has been expanded to a greater variety of items other than pizza. The owners are very friendly and treat you in a way that makes you feel they want you to come back. The service is fast and the pizza is good.

A tiny savory restaurant in a little strip mall in Lakehurst. Not many tables, but very cozy. A real find for small parties. The veal dishes are great and you can substitute sides as you like. Food is always fresh and very tasty. Like an old neighborhood mom& pop place. It's a place were you feel you were invited for dinner and your part of the family. Prices are very reasonable.

Really good pizza and special prices during happy hour. Happy hour all day on Sunday and 2pm through 7pm weekdays. Daily specials Monday through Friday. Food is fresh and reasonable. Gets really crowded during the night with live music. Would recommend for a beer and pizza anytime. Daniele and Trinity behind the bar are friendly, fast and helpful. Will keep going back.
