Find out what Pizza restaurants to try in Kumasi. Kumasi (historically spelled Comassie or Coomassie and usually spelled Kumase in Twi) is a city in Ashanti Region, and is among the largest metropolitan areas in Ghana. Kumasi is near Lake Bosomtwe, in a rain forest region, and is the commercial, industrial and cultural capital of Asanteman. Kumasi is approximately 500 kilometres (300 mi) north of the Equator and 200 kilometres (100 mi) north of the Gulf of Guinea. Kumasi is alternatively known as "The Garden City" because of its many beautiful species of flowers and plants. It is also called Oseikrom (Osei Tutu's town). Kumasi is described as Ghana’s second city.
Things to do in Kumasi
We were staying in the top suite in the hotel and ate in the dining room both nights. We tried as hard as we could to be friendly, respectful and pollite to the wait staff but to no avail whatsoever. We ordered a bottle of wine each night and had to ask at least four times and fifteen minutes for it to be brought to our table. It also took fifty minutes the first night and a full hour the second to get our meals. There are at least a half dozen waiters and waitresses who stand around talking to each other and not working too hard at all. The dining room was hot and stuffy and despite several requests to turn up the air conditioning it stayed far too hot. This is all a great pity as the meals we had, grouper and tilapia were very good. Management needs to train the waiters.
Chopsticks used to be Kumasi's restaurant of choice for Chinese meals in the 1980s and 90s. However, it has been slipping steadily since the (original) owners moved to Tema, a port city close to the capital, Accra. The last time I popped by the main restaurant, it was closing for the night (and yet it was no later than 8pm). On weekends, the outdoor eating area (which is under a separate management) seems well patronised (but I haven't tried their meals). You can also buy tender and spicy chicken kebabs elsewhere in the compound (also managed separately). But that section too closes at 8pm.
Wanted to try a "Ghanian Pizza" and am glad I chose this location. They delivered although they didn't initially know where my apartment was, but their staff was patient and took the directions down so they could get the food here. Delivery cost was only five cedis ($1 US) and the meals were very inexpensive. We ordered a chicken pizza and chicken dinner in case we didn't like the pizza. Everything ended up being good though.

Let me preface my review by saying that I have eaten fresh wood-burning-oven pizza in parts of France and Spain, as well as in my home town of Vancouver. If your expectations are set to that level, you will be disappointed. However, after a couple months in Ghana, Nik's seems like manna from heaven, and if you think about the price from a foreign perspective (about $9 US) it's easily justifiable.I have eaten there twice, once earlier in the day on a rainy day; that time, the pizza was undercooked. The subsequent time it was done perfectly. Outdoor seating area is quite nice so long as it's not raining.

Nice, open, big space and big menu. Lebanese bread was awesome. Only one waitress on the night I went so service was a bit slow. However, overall I recommend and would go again.
