Good "lax i balsamic" (salmon) - but every restaurant we ate at in Iceland had good fish. Wife enjoyed the Tandoori chicken, as did others in our group. Inexpensive.

We are a new local company on the East side of Iceland, Egilsstaðir. We are offering great quality wood fired pizzas and craft beer from Austri Brugghús. We are using local products to make our fantastic pizzas! Also, we are using an unique type of Icelan
Positive:The place and it's atmosphere were very inviting.I've really enjoyed the choice of different homemade craft beers. The taste of the two pizzas we've had was good.Negative:Unfortunately the size of the pizza wasn't worth the price. In addition the crust of both pizzas we've had was burnt. We ate them nevertheless exept for the absolutely carbonized crust parts, as it would have taken too long to order new pizzas, due to the fact that it was quite crowded. Before we left, we were asked if everything was fine. The Response we got, after we mentioned our experience was: "Yea we know, it happens with this dough sometimes".Very customer friendly restaurants might offer you a refund, a drink on the house, or something similar. Even less customer oriented establishments, should at least be capable of a simple "we're sorry". But maybe that's not how things work here...I have to say, that this wasn't the first time we faced a non customer oriented restaurant on our Iceland trip. The lack of competition seems to leave traces unfortunately.Hi Yun, As we said on your previous reviews, we are sorry for your poor experience and we will keep up with our staff to improve ourself. Thanks for your visit and have a great trip in Iceland

In the heart of Egilsstadir situated in Hótel Valaskjálf. Glóð Steikhús offers upscale cocktails, a delicious menu and a nice atmosphere. Vegatarian friendly.
We had a long day of travelling and were excited to get to the hotel and have a bite to eat. We got to the restaurant....they did have one group of about 8 people (so I respect they were focusing on the group), other than that..not busy..HOWEVER we waited for 35-40 minutes before EVEN BEING ACKNOWLEDGED With menus....so we gave them the benefit of the doubt after waiting so long for menus, but then continued to wait another 35 minutes (and not even being served water!!)..we left.. Literally the worst Iceland restaurant experience.

We thought we would eat at this "restaurant" because it was a little cheaper than the one at our hotel. Big mistake. Yes, we saved $10 but everything about this place was terrible. Service was totally non-existent, the food was overcooked, slow in coming, and tasted weird. We are just hoping that we are not going to be made ill with it overnight. Foolishly we waited until we could get someone to allow us to pay for this rubbish meal. We could have walked out very easily without paying. Sadly our only bad experience in our week thus far in Iceland.
