Muy buen restaurante. Muy buenas paellas. Buena comida muy bien servida. Raciones abundantes.

We had time for a short visit to Cullera today, and as it was a bit rushed I checked Tripadvisor for the best restaurants, so that we could head straight to one without our normal lengthy walk to compare. Number One on the list was Restaurant Dolce Vita, Calle Cabanal, Cullera. We arrived at 2:00 pm, parked virtually outside and headed for the restaurant. Now our instincts are to avoid restaurants that are empty and go for the busy ones, especially ones full of locals. We should have followed our instincts. This restaurant was not only empty but had hardly any lights on inside and no tables laid up outside. Whilst we were turning to head elsewhere a cheerful Frenchman hurried up to us and asked if we would like to sit inside our out. When we requested to sit inside he sped off and put on a few lights in a reasonably pleasant area to the rear. Still no other customers. We ordered for the â¬8,50 menu which didn't include drinks, always thinking that this is the Number One restaurant in Cullera according to Tripadvisor! The whole experience was dire, the food was uninteresting, the service very slow (including having to wait 10 minutes for the oven to get to temperature?!?), the wine we ordered was chilled - never good for red wine, we had to ask for bread as we were so bored waiting for our main courses and even this seemed too taxing for them, as it took 10 minutes to arrive, toasted, as it was clearly not fresh. In the entire time we were there no other diners arrived and we left extremely disappointed. We happened to pass the restaurant about an hour later and to our surprise it was locked and barred. This is a high street location in the peak summer season in Cullera!! Every other bar or restaurant we passed was open and thriving!!All this leaves us with a key question :- Who on Earth rated this place NUMBER ONE in Cullera?!?!?

We don't speak Spanish, but ate at this restaurant many times during our visit because of its location, its welcoming bright lights, its closeable sliding door-windows, and its non-threatening atmosphere. The head waiter speaks a couple of words of English, and on our 3rd time there, were finally handed a bilingual menu. The Ham & Cheese pizza was almost as good as the Gladys pizza; The Valencian paella was very, very good & came with a salad to share; The Meat Lasagna came topped with about a pound of Emmental cheese - way too much cheese for me, and the lasagna portion itself was super tiny; The Spaghetti Marinara came with a lovely seafood sauce, but the portion was a bit small; The Cordon Bleu was disgusting (my mistake, didn't know what Cordon Bleu was) and came solo, without any vegs or a salad; The only tapas we tried were the calamari, excellent, and the fried fish, tasty but came with heads & tails, didn't know if we were supposed to eat the fish heads, but tried anyway.Because of the sometimes small portions, I think we were supposed to order a tapa beforehand, but this would have added another 5-7 euros to each meal.Small wine selection, husband had a demi-bottle of excellent Spanish wine (7.99 euros), while I always had a glass of their good sangria (2.79 euros)Our bill usually came to 30 euros, including said drinks and tip.Their pizza take-out seems very popular.

First visit was a family sit down and we ordered pizza which l have to say was amazing from the wood fired oven with good service. Second time, we phoned our order in for take away and told 45 mins which was OK as we were not too hungry. When we arrived, one pizza was boxed (going cold) and the others had not even been put in the oven as we're still being made which was strange. Not sure if they had given ours to someone else but the result when we got home was one cold pizza and two that had not had enough time in the oven to crisp the base.I would go back based on the first experience but wouldn't order take out.

delicious and cheap thin-crust pizzas, really enjoyed. It's just weird that neither of the two waiters spoke english. But that didn't stop us from understanding each other.

We managed to get a last minute table on a Saturday evening and enjoyed a lovely pizza and plate of pasta. House wine is good, service is good, even with a full restaurant. Will visit again when in the area.
I just passed and ordered paella and a coffee solo (espresso). Both were absolutely perfect ! The paella was amazing delicious!! Itâs a new place, looks like a surferâs beach Café :)The chief is very friendly and a great person. Can fully recommend it!!
