We were recommended to this establishment but came to regret it.We ordered a Sicilian Salad and a Tuna Salad with two glasses white wine, half litre water and two Americano coffees after. My Siciliano was a bowl of green & red lettuce with two sliced tomatoes mixed in. The Tuna salad was the same with tuna added. We were given two small slices of very salty bread with olive oil dribbled on it, free of charge. The wine barely covered the bottom of the glasses. More than halfway through our meal some salt & olive oil was offered, there was none on the table. We left most of the lettuce.Somehow this all came to Euros 41.50. One wonders how?

We very much enjoyed a meal in U Trappitu while on a visit to Castelbuono. Not far from the Castle but not at all touristy. We decided to take the set menu which was excellent and very reasonably priced. There were two (literally) pasta dishes, one with funghi, the other with boar meat, roast meat and fries, and an excellent Tiramisu. Local wine, water included. Everything was freshly cooked. I see that some people have complained about delays in the service. This was not our experience, but if food is freshly prepared and cooked you might expect some slow service. But if you have done the castle and the churches and bought your Manna, what else is there to do?

Hard to find a restaurant open in afternoon in Castelbuono. Seems they take "siesta" seriously here. Even harder to obtain Pizza, outside of a bar, most places in Sicily before the evening dinner hours. But, La Botte is open throughout the afternoon, and the owner will gladly whip-up a first rate, thin crust delectable Sicilian Pizza for the hungry traveler who does not wish to wait for late night dining. The house wine is likewise better than most we have experienced. Price on the low end of like establishments.

We sat outside in the garden seating, there were a lot of locals about. The pizzas the other tables ordered, looked really good. We ordered the grilled seafood, and pasta with swordfish, eggplant, and tomatoes. I really enjoyed every part of the meal, and they had excellent house wine, local to Castelbuono. The waiters were very patient and helped us to decide for the best meal options. I am sorry we only went here once, the atmosphere, food, and waitstaff were all great.

We loved this place. Its classy without being pretentious. The clam dish was delicious, and my husband devoured somewhat embarassingly his entire traditional herbed pork dish?!?, Overall, discounting my husbands table manners, the rustic ambience in the terrazzino part of the hostaria'a outdoor courtyard made one feel like they were seated in an elegant 17th century palazzo's garden- but you have to book well in advance in the busy summer season for a table here .... great food, surprisingly attentive waiters that spoke English quite well. a gem in the historic heart of Castelbuono. We miss Sicily already.

We were the only ones in this restaurant, and we wanted to eat pizza at lunch time, but it wasn't possible and they offered instead a schiacciata! And they were delicious! Really personal and good service directly from the chef and a waiter. Try the one with artichoke and mozzarella, and the other one with prosciutto, mushrooms and tomato. The atmosphere wasn't great, too dark for a lunch time.

This restaurant is a bit hidden and we never would have gone there if it hadn't been recommended by Lonely Planet. We were not disappointed, the pasta was good and portions big. Also, the interior was nice, kind of rustically with vaulted arches. Prices are cheap. Two portions of pasta with a big bottle of water and service fee just 21 Euro. So, why only 4/5 stars?Well, as said, it was good food for a good price. But it wasn't outstanding/nothing remarkable. And, pizza, for whatever reason, was not available which limits the options drastically.

On a day trip from Cefalu, stopped in Castelbuono and had lunch here. We were 2 adults and 1 9-year old. We had an amazing potato "tartine" that was a real hit. The pasta was rustic, simple and really delicious. Great views. Very reasonable. Nice staff.

Unexpectedly quiet on a Wednesday night, but the heavy rain all afternoon would stop most tourists. Didn't feel like a pizza evening. Our favourite dish Beef Carpaccio was on the menu. This plate was fantastic, beyond anything we have tasted in 5 countries - local cheese rather than parmsan , freshest rocket - the best oil and sourdough bread. To follow contra filleto (sirloin beef) and ravioli just al dente with different tasty funghi on each dish. Fried (wild ) greens just added to the pleasure. Good choice of wines. Service good and plenty of space inside for dining. Just outside the old town streets but only a few metres to walk - it is signposted.
