Came by this restaurant by chance though not entirely sure how as it seems to tucked away. We called in on the off chance and were given the last available table for four. Staff were friendly, menu extensive and good was delicious. Fully recommended.

We were here well after the dining rush (turns out we were the last folks seated for the evening), but it took a very long time to get seated and drinks in front of us. Although this restaurant is located just under the Guildhall Museum, it is a full Italian restaurant, with a good wine selection and few beers on offer. Seating was very cramped, but outdoor dining was not available due to the chilliness of the evening. Space was further limited by decorative pillows on the bench. Since our table wasn't clean, i wonder what was in the pillows. Ugh. Our dinner was good, not great, although the portion size was generous. Sadly, the restaurant had no WiFi for us to check up on news from home, our favorite thing to do at dinner on this trip.Sorry we don't have WIfI but we have access to Carlisle BT open zone for the city centre. Regarding the cleanliness of the restaurant, we follow a very strict cleaning rota on a regular basis , which I am involved in myself , which also includes frequent cleaning of the cushions . Franco's is situated in a building dated from the 1400's , we provide the best seating we can and we feel very privileged to work in such a wonderful historic building and that's what makes it unique. We hope our customers are with us to enjoy the dining experience, not the wifi experience.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we loved it. Friendly staff, excellent food, great atmosphere, and lovely decor. We started with drinks in the garden and admired what they had done with the seating, and outdoor bar, pizza oven, and wood fire. Inside was just as good.

Central, well run restaurant on a busy Saturday evening. Friendly service, but main courses lacked flavour and portion size was fairly small; making them expensive.Desserts much better. Good bar selection. Not much else to say; popular with the locals, but nothing special.

Another visit and another great meal. Went for dinner and arrived in time for the early bird deal. I opted for the lasagne which was delicious as usual , more than enough for one and served piping hot. My wife had vegetable pizza which she thoroughly enjoyed. The house red wine was lovely and great value . Service was brilliant despite it being really busy. Will definitely return.

Called with my wife yesterday for lunch, the restaurant has a 'Happy Hour' at lunch time and we took up their offer which worked out at £7.95p per person. The food was fantastic along with the service that we had from the owner, we had a lengthy chat with him regarding Sardinia and discussed the local delicacy's that Sardinia had to offer which we missed out on when we visited the island earlier this year. We will certainly look to visit Sannas again in the near future and would recommend it to friends and family.

Adriano's is perfect for all occasions, from a romantic evening for two, or large parties. We have disabled and wheelchair friendly facilities. Wi-Fi. Child friendly, changing facilities for babies.
Long overdue first visit and as it was a Saturday night, it was very busy. Decor really lovely and staff attentive and pleasant. But the food failed to come even close to expectation. I was really looking forward to authentic Italian food It wasnât inedible, it just wasnât good. Pluses plenty of parking in the evening. And a very big restaurant so unlikely to be turned away.

My wife and I have recently returned from a short trip to Carlisle to celebrate my birthday. On our first evening, we went to Casa Romana and found it was bustling with a full dinner service underway. Our host John said that no tables were available but asked us to come back in 40 minutes. We did so and were quickly seated at a window table. Both John and our young waitress Jenna were very welcoming and attentive. We had pizza and a pasta dish which were both well-cooked and packed with flavour. We also enjoyed the atmosphere as it's a very good sign for a restaurant to be so busy on a Tuesday evening. In fact, we liked it so much we booked a table for the following evening, the day of my birthday. So, the next day after a day trip on the scenic Carlisle-Settle railway line, we returned to Casa Romana for dinner and were greeted by Sue, who was warm and friendly and immediately put us at our ease. Again, Sue and her young team of staff were very attentive. The food was superb; I had the lamb paesano, which was succulent and delicious, while my wife opted for the chicken risotto, which she said was exquisite, washed down with a bottle of shiraz. The portions were substantial and we had had cheesy garlic bread to start, so we had no room for dessert (although seeing them appear at adjoining tables, they looked delicious), so I had an excellent coffee and a glass of grappa to finish.Casa Romana is a wonderful restaurant in every way - from the ambience to the staff to the quality of the food. They really do serve cucina della nonna, proper Italian home-cooking. Any time we find ourselves back in Carlisle, we will be sure to have a meal at Casa Romana; it's just a pity it wasn't nearer home or we would be there on a regular basis.Ciao e mille grazie a tutti!Thank you for your wonderful review Paul, it is very much appreciated. The staff remember you well and were thrilled about your review and that you chose to celebrate your special day here with us.We look forward to seeing you again next time you are in the areaRichard, Chef/proprietor

Authentic Italian home-made pizza by slice. Freshly baked every day with the finest ingredients and flours. Fast and easy to eat, as in all the best street-Pizzerias in Rome.
The top place for fresh authentic pizza ....thin and crispy with generous quality toppings. The capricciosa pizza with a request to add brown anchovies is sooooo delicious and a firm favourite of ours. Chilli flakes and a drizzle of olive oil added if you wish. Prices are very reasonable. The hard working Italian couple making and serving the pizzas are such lovely people. We wish them every success...they deserve it.
