Arnstadt (German pronunciation: [ˈarnʃtat] ( listen)) is a town in Ilm-Kreis, Thuringia, Germany, on the river Gera about 20 kilometres south of Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia. Arnstadt is one of the oldest towns in Thuringia, and has a well-preserved historic centre with a partially preserved town wall. The town is nicknamed Das Tor zum Thüringer Wald ("The Gateway to the Thuringian Forest") because of its location on the northern edge of that forest. Arnstadt has a population of some 25,000. The city centre is on the west side of Gera. The municipality comprises four "villages": Angelhausen–Oberndorf, Dosdorf–Espenfeld, Rudisleben, and Siegelbach. The neighbouring municipalities are Wachsenburggemeinde, Kirchheim, Alkersleben, thorn Home, Wipfratal, Plaue and Gossel.

On Friday evening after 7pm in Arnstadt there is not a lot open - or at least it didn't seem like it. The place felt like a ghost town. 12 Apostel was open though and quite full. We ordered three different kinds of pasta and I must say all were exceptional. Fresh pasta perfectly cooked with delicious sauces - also real parmesan on the side. Not cheap - pasta dishes and pizzas starting around 9 euros and drinks quite expensive - but portions were generous. Service was good and very friendly. I'd certainly go there again.

Very nice restaurant with a real Italian ambiance. Love the antipasti there and the piza is super. The wine is good. The highlight of this restaurant is that they have a terras over the river Gera very unique.

Wir waren an einem Sonntagmittag zu Gast. Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant war sehr angenehm und entspannt. Der Kellner war super freundlich und auch sehr schnell. Das Essen war sehr gut und die Preise waren angemessen. Ich selbst hatte Pizza. Sie war gut, aber eben nicht hervorragend. Der Teig war dünn und knusprig. Allerdings war es wohl sehr frischer Teig. Auch wenn sich frisch gut anhört, ist es im Falle von Pizzateig eher kontraproduktiv. Ein Pizzateig sollte mind. 24 Stunden gehen, um ein entsprechendes Aroma zu erhalten. Andernfalls fehlt dieses und es schmeckt eher nach einem klassischen, dünnen Hefeteig. Deshalb mein Fazit - ein guter und solider Italiener, allerdings eben nicht hervorragend.

Die Karte bietet gigantisch viel Auswahl - wir haben uns für 2 indische Gerichte entschieden, die wirklich sehr gut geschmeckt haben; inkl. selbstgemachtem indischem Brot. Der groÃe Hirtensalat als Vorspeise war auch richtig groÃ. Insgesamt alles sehr zu empfehlen, bei schneller Lieferung auch am Feiertag!
