Things to do in Tumbes

What a pleasant surprise we had at Capuccino! I ordered their lunch special for 20 Soles, which included an amazing Peruvian appetizer called Causa Limeña (layers of cold mashed potato with Tuna in the middle absolutely stunning!) followed by a perfectly cooked filet steak (though you must tell them how you want it or it will come out butchered e.g. well done) and a Borracho (a delicious chocolate bar soaked in rum). Simply a delight to have found this place in an otherwise shabby looking border town.

This restaurant is located in the same building of Rizzo Hotel, this is the main reason why I selected it. You will find almost everything in the menu. I picked a chicken which came with white rice and salad. Taste was good. Service is not the best but you will get your food on time and warm enough to eat. Coffee was horrible.I was able to add the tab to my room bill.

This little restaurant is just off the Panamericana Norte in the town of Zorritos in the region of Tumbes. It is run by a delightful old fisherman, Jose Garcia.
This place is known for their amazing and cheap seafood. We had two large lobsters with fried garlic butter, ceviche, and delicious fried oysters on rice. The oysters were the best I've ever had. The lobster was a little overcooked, but some of the cheapest prices I've seen in Peru.

Our restaurant is located near the main square of Tumbes, in the most important and emblematic hotel in town (Hotel Costa del Sol). It is a comfortable and elegant place with two defined areas one inside a large living room with a sophisticated and elegan
We end up going three times to this place. It is not amazing, but I guess it is the best you can get in Tumbes. The fish was good, the bread really good, good service, nice ceviche, really good frozen lemonades!!! The only low side were the salads, they have no clue about dressing, but all in all it was good and we ended up going more than once. I would definitely go back here if in Tumbes.

We stopped here for lunch and tried two of the chef's specialties -- grilled octopus with plantain and chimichurri sauce and black rice with seafood (mariscos). Both were very tasty. The only disappointment was the lack of good Italian coffee as the machine was malfunctioning.

Want to say a massive thank you to Carlos for feeding us for 3 days! We came across this restaurant in low season when it may have usually been closed. Carlos was nice enough to open up and cook for us! We had 3 different meals there as we couldnât stop coming back. He is such an amazing cook and always comes up with new dishes. He even catered to the vegan guests staying nearby. He even has a Wood fire oven. Highly recommend!

Tourist Restaurant El Brujo, located in the Spa de Zorritos, Province of Contralmirante Villar, Department Tumbes, Peru, with a high trajectory in the gastronomic field whose specialty is fish and seafood and committed to serving and serving our exquisite
We had the fish and black oysters cebiches, plaintain "patacones" with cheese, and lobsters a la méniere. The cebiches were very good, the patacones needed a saltier cheese, and the lobsters were small but tasty. The lemonade and passion fruit juices were fine, and the price reasonable.

We enjoyed a great meal at El Brujo in Tumbes. We had a ceviche de lenguado (sole ceviche) and an arroz con conchas negras (rice with black shell clams), both were amazing! I could eat the arroz con conchas negras again and again, make sure to try it while in Tumbes as it is the local speciality and is not easily found elsewhere, at least not of this quality. Portions were very big (as is the norm in Peru) and as such we felt the food was fairly priced. The restaurant has different seating areas on various floors. The waitress was very friendly and efficient.I would definitely come back to eat here again!
