Make the port town of Iquitos your base camp for exploring the Peruvian Amazon basin. The river and rainforest are the main attractions, of course, and once in Iquitos it's easy to book a stay at one of numerous nearby jungle lodges. Closer to town, travelers recommend visiting the market and "floating village" of Belen, seeing colorful creatures at the butterfly farm and animal rescue center, and taking a cruise on the great river.

We 're winner of Excelence 's Certificate for second year consecutive. Come enjoy a fine dining experience in our establishment, we use ingredients from the nearby Amazon. We cater to your needs by providing excellent service.
We ate here with a tour group on a Saturday afternoon. Our group had already ordered our meals (we each selected appetizers and entrees). They were set up and expecting us at 2 pm. But the appetizers dribbled put 2-3 at a time. After all 24 of us had been served, we waited and waited for the entrees. Same experience, served 2-3 at a time. The meal took well over an hour. But the food was good. My venison was a bit tough but that's to be expected. Wifi (ask for password). Full bar (beer is S/ per hottle of local beer)

Another in the list of 8 or 10 restaurants within a couple of blocks, all of whom are decent but not great. They have some interesting local dishes - my wife enjoyed her alligator steak. Friendly, as are the rest, and comfortable, but not particularly memorable.

We are big travellers and foodies. All our visits include trying out local cuisine, anything from local markets and street stalls to fine dining all thatâs inbetween. For something different to your norm come here with adventurous and open minds and you wont be disappointed! We had an array of different dishes including worms, heart of palm salad, chicharon plantain and tortoise soup. These are focussed on the typical foods if the Ikiitu tribe (where Iquitos gets its name from) but with a modern twist. All served in large portions and excellently presented. Itâs perhaps a little more expensive than other restaurants but reasonably priced for what you get. Thank you to the wonderful staff who were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to tell us about where the food comes from and how its prepared. You could see they cared very much about what we thought of the dishes too.

Very big, clean, nicely decorated place. I was skeptical at first as it seem a bit touristy but the place does get packed, always a good sign. Food is very good and the staff is very attentive. Always eager to explain dishes and make suggestions. Go early as it does get loud with the musical performance.

The Fitzcarraldo is a lovely restaurant on the riverfront, with delicious food and good service with brilliantly prepared regional and international dishes. It has the best coffee in town and it´s one of the few places in Iquitos where you can enjoy a pea
It is one of the better restaurants in Iquitos. The food is good specially the fish dishes. It has air conditioning and a very nice atmosphere with a lot of culture to offer. The restaurant has many posters from the movie Fitzcarraldo as well as parts from the boat that were used in the Film.

For breakfast one can find different salty pastrys and in the evening a diverse offer of carbon roasted skewers.
This no nonsense place specialises in kebabs. You chose from the display cabinet, order a beer and sit down. Five minutes later your food appears. Loved the chicken and the "squeaky cheese" with apricot. Best food we had in Peru in my opinion.

This restaurant was recommended by our landlady as a place for traditional local food. The place was buzzing with a largely local clientele and is very much a neighbourhood restaurant which was great but meant that the environment was a little basic and Spartan. There was a good selection of food at affordable prices and we took a pork and a chicken dish which were both really well-presented and tasty. All round good experience.

Breakfast & lunch, homemade food and vegetarian food
This is a very good restaurant with excellent daily menu option. The food was really good, the staff was nice, however English wasnât the strong side of them. The daily menu is cheap, 16 Soles for starter, main dish and drink, the quality was really good. Itâs a pity, they are closed for dinner.

From the walk to the dock to the delicious food and drinks, every aspect of our experience was fabulous. You take a boat over to the restaurant, where you are greeted by friendly and attentive staff. The ceviche and fish dishes we had were top notch. The view and atmosphere was amazing. I would highly recommend, it is worth every penny even if it is more expensive than other restaurants in the area. One thing to note, the entrance to the dock is not very obvious, although they have someone manning the door and asking if youâd like to dine there.
