Things to do in Moss
Perfekt sted for is,kaker og smørbrød! De har 24 forskjellige typer is smaker! Hyggelig service! Absolutt et sted for en iselsker! Kommer gjerne tilbake!
Café Scala is located on the pedestrian street on the ground floor of Moss Hotel. Café Scala serves delicious traditional sandwiches stacked high with goodies in quiet, tasteful surroundings. We are fully licensed and have wireless Internet connections.
We stayed at the Moss hotel for 3 nights in a Triple room, 214 with a view over the church. We were visiting Friends who live in Moss near the railway station. The hotel is ideally situated just 10 minutes from the railway station and 10 minutes from main road networks. The hotel is immaculately clean. The beds so comfortable and clean. Bathroom very modern with a superb shower. The staff were friendly and professional and available At all times. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is self service style. Plentiful and varied. Lovely selection of fresh bread each morning. Moss has done lovely little bespoke shops and some beautiful coffee shops and quaint eateries. The rail network is very good. Very prompt. Everything in Norway is ridiculously expensive. There is nothing that is cheap. A pint of Guiness in Oslo was £8. I bought 3 Aquavits and and a glass of wine and it was £29. 2 starters and 3 main meals with half bottle of wine was £130!!A diet coke is £4.20So nothing is cheap. We have visited twice in the last month and this really is the biggest bug bear. Otherwise Norway is beautiful, the people are very accommodating . Driving is easy here top.

Magnus warmly welcomed us into his GastroPub and was an exceptional host from the start. Great recommendations on food and advice on matching beers. Funny but we all went for the Moose Wild Stew and home crafted 'blond' beer! The Stew was pure delight and the blond beer was smooth and went down rapidly.

The most elegant restaurant in the area. Restaurant Munch is located in the main building built in 1767, and several of the old masterâs works adorn the walls in the restaurant. The restaurant has a French-inspired cuisine based on the best Norwegian and
Upon arrival seven thirty, reception was friendly, but somewhat unfocused. Then the waitress disappeared for ten minutes and she and her colleague was generally hard to get hold of throughout the evening. We were offered nothing in the way of water or aperitif but left to ourselves. Eventually, the waitress reappeared with the menu that basically contained the seven course meal of the day (that could be scaled down to two dishes). The menu came with a wine pairing that wasn't to impressive, hence we asked for the wine list. Another wait. When it eventually materialized the main impression was pricey, indeed very pricey. Not due to the rather comprehensive list of claret (they are proud of their wine cellar), but rather due to what they charge for the less expensive ones. We ended up ordering four courses to start with, telling the waitress that we might want to order cheeses and desserts, if we did not feel to full towards the end of the meal. When the fourth and final dish arrived a little past ten thirty - that is three hours later - we were not in the mood for additional fare. We ordered a bottle of riesling from Trimbach, symptomatically this had not yet manifested itself when the first course arrived. When it finally did arrive, it must have come straight out of the kitchen as the temperature was easily the same if not above that of the dining room. The first dish was passed of as asparagus served with verjus but the few pieces of green asparagus (that if added together probably would have made up one small specimen) disappeared in a rather messy presentation where volumewise the bulk of the dish was made up of a mousse of chèvre, salad, red beets and various other ingredients. While the dish was okay, it was not quite what the menu had announced. And this set the tone for the rest of the meal. Let me just add that the sole was replace by halibut (overcooked). The main course, the veal, was OK, though. Strangely enough, these people, that pride themselves on their wine cellar, and whose wine list contain a number of wines that sell for five digits, were not able to provide us with proper burgundy glasses even though we tried to insist. In the end, it took us a while to get the check, but not as long as it did the couple across the room that eventually gave up, got up and left. In conclusion, unless one happens to be staying at the hotel, there is little reason to visit the restaurant (and be prepared for a wait).

This is a beautiful place to take a walk through nature and a coffee and cake after.Beautiful walks through forest to the water , walks can be hours long or shorter, many different tracks to follow! We saw dear and heard beautiful bird song and a woodpecker !! Although this is a very popular place for people to visit it doesn't feel like it , when walking we met just a few because it has so many different tracks to take .The cafe Is lovely and welcoming inside with various table set ups and candles on each table! Although can be very busy at weekends during the week it's quieter! They have sandwiches and cakes and various coffees, must try is the Alby special cake called Albykringle, very delicious !There is plenty of car parking space too
