The staff were completely disinterested and rude. Took forever to serve us, made no mention of the fact that the steaks we ordered came with no accompaniments at all. We were served dry steaks served in raw cabbage leaves! No staff came to ask if the food was ok which would have given us the opportunity to ask for vegetables or a sauce. We also couldn't attract their attention to ask for such things, or even salt & pepper. The steak itself was good quality and well cooked but without any accompaniment it was dreadful. Absolutely the worst restaurant experience any of the six of us have ever had. The wine was mediocre and expensive too. One of the few times I have ever left zero tip.

Sitting in the charming old Gussago downtown, this Osteria is run by a family, with the mother in the kitchen and son and aunts serving at the tables. You have a wide choice of local specialties (casoncelli alla bresciana and tortelli with bagoss cheese, ghiottoni and paccheri among the others) as well as main dishes (angus beef, chianina steak, arrotolato di coniglio, roasted calf). Bread is good, tiramisu, panna cotta and semifreddi are home made while ice-cream are not (for a very strict law in Italy it's hard for a restaurant to produce its own ice-cream). Everything was good but nothing impressed us. We choose a very good Amarone della Valpollicella for ⬠28 (if you can't drink the entire bottle you can take it home), but overall the bill was quite expensive (more than ⬠45 per person, wine included). During winter weekends the Osteria in crowded and lousy, so better to visit it during spring and enjoy your meal in the outdoor seating.

I recently enjoyed a business dinner with a colleague at Ristorante Nuovo Olimpo in Brescia. The restaurant is situated in an ancient monastery dating back to the 1500's. Everything has be refurbished and brought up to today's standards for dining. Olimpo is also has a park and gardens that are meticulously cared for. There is even a small chapel where the monks once prayed.Ristorante Olimpo is enormous, having a total seating capacity of 1,000 place settings! You can sit in one of the many dining areas on the first floor or out in an open-air terrace that is covered by a retractable roof and sides for inclement weather. I was concerned for the quality of food since Olimpo serves so many customers at any given time; however, everything was just fine with my meal this evening. We decided to eat outdoors on the terrace where we were afforded excellent, attentive service from our Romanian waitress, Giulia. Tables were set with cloth tablecloths and napkins and several muted televisions broadcast the evening news. The dining area was noisy, though tables were situated as to afford adequate privacy for dinner conversation. After our meal order was taken, we were served complimentary tomato bruschetta and a plate of warm focaccia bread made in the pizza oven. There is a very extensive menu with a fine selection of meat and seafood antipastos, primi (pasta course) and entree's. There is also a large selection of pizzas that seemed to be quite popular with other guests this evening.I started my meal with a Seafood Salad for an antipasto. The portion was generous and the seafood was fresh and tasty. This was followed by the Olimpo Spaghetti; a large portion of spaghetti tossed with fresh tomatoes, mussels, clams, calamari, crab and langoustine shrimp. There was nothing special about the recipe as you can find the same in any restaurant serving seafood. I was anticipating something extra, but it wasn't there. The dish was tasty. That's all. There were a few desserts made on the premises, while others were mass-produced at an off-site location. I had a rather small portion of Crème Caramel while my guest enjoyed fresh yogurt with an assortment of fresh berries. After dinner, we were provided with complimentary digestives (grappa and Limoncello).Prices were reasonable with our meal, plus a 1/2 bottle of white wine, totaling 75 Euro. I was pleased with my dining experience and enjoyed the outdoor dining on an early summer's eve.

I was invited yesterday to this place to celebrate a Birthday. To be honest, although I am from Brescia, I had never heard of it before getting the invitation. It is not in a very 'easy' area, but it is definitely worth a visit. This is the old fashioned type of 'trattoria' which tells us where we come from.Simple, nothing fancy, but all is REAL. Everything oozes 'simplicity', 'quality' and and the true sense of 'hospitality'From the simple table, the menù, the food, the staff, etc etc etc. It took me back to my childhood when my parents used to manage something similar. So, if you are looking for something like that, then don't miss it.If you need any further details, please do not hesitate to text me in private. All the very best

We were here as a group of ten people. Place was recommended by locals. Kind and educated staff recommended us very delicious food of three courses for an afordable price. We had also a 15-minutes tour in the shop for cheese and ham and wine cellar in the restaurant. Very interesting. There is a special (traditional) mood at the place.
