Were not sure what to expect as we have just moved into the area but must say we were impressed! Thoroughly recommend for steak meal - eye fillet was awesome. Cooked to request - good portion size - delicious. We will certainly be back - staff were great....all you would want for family meal out!
Stopped here on the way to the coast and boy oh boy was this worth it!Fabulous pastry and fresh fillings of all meat and natural gravy. No junk in these pies. The owner is busy making pies in the shop and you canât get fresher than that.Coffee was good too.Highly recommend a pit stop here.

Dine on the deck this in summer with pleasant views overlooking the water. Our 'Landing Restaurant' offers delicious meals exceeding the expectations of a semi-rural tavern, served with iconic kiwi hospitality. Nestled on the shores of the upper Waitemata
Another Superb evening at the historic Riverhead Tavern. We elected to try the Sunday Roast which was beef. Roasted to perfection, the beef was moist, tender and delicious, accompanied by assorted root veg, broccolini, Yorkshire pudding and a yummy jus. We loved the presentation!!! Great value for money, the Roast comes with either a beer or a house wine. We ordered dessert separately, the sorbet (a trio of flavours) was amazing, and the Francipani/rhubarb tart fresh from the oven was pretty good too. With the sculpture and trees all lit up, the tide in on the river, such a pretty place to dine!Yes, it is pretty spectacular at night isn't it! I love it ...so glad you love the Sunday Roast Special. We've had a really good response to it, so it will probably be a keeper. See you again, kind regards Paula

Great addition to the already excellent Kumeu District food scene, The Woodsman, after a slow start, has now hit its straps, thanks to excellent service, good food and a comfortable and tasteful environment which allows "inside and outside' dining.Thorough menu, both food and drinks; even friends from St. Heliers were impressed, so we "Westies" must be doing something right!! Only there for lunch today, but we'll certainly be back for dinner!

We stumbled onto the food vault today while driving to Muriwai beach from Auckland and were pleasantly surprised by how good this place was. The coffee was great and the open sandwiches were damn good. Highly recommend this place to anybody who is looking for a break between Auckland and murawai. The frittata, however, could be better.

A family owned and operated craft brewery and biergarten. Brewing the good stuff since 2004, Hallertau has always been an innovator in the NZ craft beer scene. A family and dog friendly destination with everything brewed and prepared from scratch onsite.
I know itâs a family friendly place, but kids should either be sitting at their tables or staying in the dedicated playground area. However they were running riot screaming throughout the restauarant the entire time we were there. Donât bother going here if you want a relaxing meal and drinks with friends. I will not be going back. Apparently itâs always like this at night. I imagine the day being the same. Very small pourings of wine compared to other bars. Service was good, food was nice. The blankets they provide if you sit outside are great.

Our outstanding guide John (NZ WinePro) made arrangements for his tour group of 6 to dine in fine style at this really lovely winery. As we entered, a really massive (with a capital M) group of Viking cruise ship travelers were just leaving. How fortunate could we have been? The wine gods were certainly smiling on us this day. John called ahead to make all the menu arrangements (so as not to delay the rest of our day's plans) and we all had something a little different but everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed our very lovely plates of yummy-ness. No short-cuts, no pre-arranged buffet monkey-business, this was right off the menu with no reservations. Anthony Bourdain would have approved. We were served promptly, the quality and quantity were exceptional. Soljans does a great business and we were so fortunate not to be part of the cruise-ship herd (normally our traveling pack, I am embarrased to say) so this wonderful outing was even more memorable.Dear on_the_go_98765,I was very impressed with your review, you covered everything in a clear detailed way and I really enjoyed reading it. We are proud of what we offer and te see you write " lovely plates of yummy-ness" a great description I could not write better myself but I am sure make people take notice. John does a fantastic job of looking after his winery tour people and we like to add to the enjoyment by offering them our very special Soljan hospitality when they are here.We do get lots of Cruise ship groups visiting as you indicated and as everyone is special we do our best to give all groups their own space to enjoy the winery experience.Thank you for a great reviewRegardsTony

The Tasting Shed has one simple philosophy â a place where wine craves food. Expect to experience a unique environment where everything we are about is celebrating great food and wine pairings in a gorgeous wine country, less than half an hour outside of
Went there on Good Friday and was greeted by a sign at the entrance outlining that due to Good Friday alcohol sales restrictions, that guests ordering alcohol must purchase a minimum of 3 main sharing plates per couple. Also, there's a 15% surcharge.I get the surcharge but the minimum food ordering requirement was weird. In the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2002, section 47 states:The holder of an on-licence must ensure that no alcohol is sold or supplied on the premises on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, or Christmas Day, or before 1Â pm on Anzac Day, unless people who are present on the premises to dine. A person is not present on licensed premises to dine if he or she is there at a time (i)more than an hour before he or she starts (or is due to start) eating a meal; or (ii)more than an hour after he or she finishes eating a meal. Therefore, the definition of dining is related to the timing of a meal, not the size of it.Very disappointed that it seemed The Tasting Shed was misinterpreting the legislation and made it looked like a money grab to require guests order more food than they need, especially given the high prices, plus adding a 15% surcharge!Poor form.
