A few of us decided to watch the cars return on the Saturday evening after the Rally finished in Whitianga so decided to pop in to Stoked for a snack and some refreshments.Lovely setting beside the beach and great vantage spot to see the cars come past. They are most welcoming even if it was just a snack and a drink.Nice menu if you want a great meal, we know, we have dined here several times.Great craft beers and local wines on offer as well as the usual varieties.

Not a pleasant experience last Wednesday morning- the young woman taking orders was bordering on rude - no please or thankyou, no smile, very abrupt. Also we had to pay $6 each for a fairly small takeaway coffee - $1 extra each for decaf. Come on people! Most cafes no longer charge extra for decaf - but if they do, its much less than a dollar extra!

Yesterday I was looking at all of the Trip Advisor reviews for restaurants in Whitianga. I narrowed it down to three and then checked out their menus. When I open Squids Bar and Restaurant right there on the entree list (starters) were Mussels Kilpatrick. Now, I have had "Kilpatrick" in my name for more than 6 decades, but I had never eaten that dish--or even heard of it. I figured it was destiny, so we went there for dinner. We were not disappointed! Excellent food! I, of course, had to get the mussels for starter, my friend ordered fish tacos--and we are from Texas so we know fish tacos! They were very, very good. That was easily the farthest from Texas I have ever ventured into our beloved "Tex-Mex". The main course (that we split) was the sesame fish and it had a delightful ginger salad greens that came with it, both are tasty. Despite being completely full of diners we had excellent service. The staff was exceptionally friendly. I will return here, but not JUST for the Mussels! I recommend a booking on the weekends as there were several "walk-ins" who wanted to eat, but there was no more room!

The Espy Cafe has some of the best harbour views in town from the large deck or inside the cafe with a lounge area for mum and dad to watch the kids. We serve classic kiwi food with ala carte menu, cold cabinet options as well as home made scones and muff
Had breakfast here back in Jan 2019 down here again in Sep 2019 for the weekend of the Scallop festival, no questions about it back to this establishment for breakfast both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Both mornings palce was flat out yet food didn't take long to arrive and cooked nicely. Great Coffee as well, Order a Flat White in a bucket with no froth. Flat White arrives in a Latte bowl and no froth. Just what I ordered THANK YOU. You would not beleive how hard it is to get a flat white without froth in so many places around NZ

Go Vino has taken the Spanish concept of tapas and evolved it for a New Zealand environment. Go Vino's shared plates (Kaizen dishes) are bigger and more complex than traditional tapas. The dishes also feature ingredients and flavours distinct to New Zeala
We had a great tasting menu with wine pairings. This is a true fine dining experience without the pretension and without the hefty price tag! Loved the food and the reasonably priced wine selection. Service was friendly and down to earth. Would love to go back, and would go out of our way for another meal here.

We were told about this place by some friends who live in Auckland. It was a great place to find some delicious pizza and wine while enjoying a gorgeous view. Make sure your arrive early enough or make reservations or you may be disappointed. The pizzas run out.

Iâm always concerned when change of ownership occurs, however this crew have simply made what was ok even better. Perfect spot for the morning coffee, breakfast, bunch or any other daytime snack. Cabinet food is of a high quality and priced accordingly to small town prices. I only wish they could nag the old raspberry and white chocolate muffin recipe from many years back - they were the best
