Called in on a Sunday evening for a bite to eat. There was a trio playing jazz music and the atmosphere was great with a lot of people enjoying themselves, we just about managed to get a couple of seats in the bar! Great selection of beers on tap I was pretty spoilt for choice! For food my girlfriend had fish and chips which she reckons was the best so far sheâs had in NZ. I had the chorizo and sausage meatloaf which tasted great. My only criticism with my meal was that it needed a bit of altering, it came with onion rings and mash which I didnât find went very well together, but the meatloaf itself was so tasty! Apart from that a great little pub with top beers and tasty food, will definitely return

Decided to give TMR a chance despite the other reviews mentioning the slow service. We were getting a little hungry and more than a little hangry after waiting 70 mins for any food to arrive. Luckily when the food did eventually arrive it was amazing and everyone raved about it. Particularly loved the warm spring salad and the eggplant dish. Would have been 5 stars if service had been quicker but try not to let it put you off.

We were staying in Christchurch Central and walked the streets looking for an appealing breakfast place. Nothing really stood out. Pulled out the phone and looked at TripAdvisor reviews. Unknown Chapter stood out as highly rated. Bit of a trek again but so glad we found it. One look at the crowd in the window said it all. On a cold winter weekend it was warm, staff welcoming, service fast as, food options, presentation, taste and value were excellent. Coffee was superb, so we had a second. Will be seeking this place out for sure on future travels to Christchurch.

From the moment we arrived for lunch the staff were welcoming and attentive. We had our pick of tables and the place was beautiful and inviting. We chose the salmon belly (starter), asparagus (share), duck and chicken (mains). I also asked for extra olive oil which wasn't a problem, the lovely lady even bought out extra sauce. The food was so tasty! Good options for those on keto or eating low carb.

Have had the chch tram restaurant on my 'bucket list' for quite a while. Finally I was able to try this out the other night. It was truly a lovely evening with wonderful food along with a joyous buzz throughout the tram from other diners. It almost felt like eating on a mini Orient Express! Not that I have been privileged to have dined on that, but that's how I would imagine it to be. Staff were warm and welcoming as well as making sure that everyone's dining experience was an absolute pleasure. This is not only great for tourists, but definitely a worthwhile experience for locals.

Very impressed with the food selection, very creative and can tell the chef is passionate about flavour and presentation.I had the balsamic beef cheek, it was cooked to perfection and even the greens were surprisingly flavourful. My husband had a bacon buttie, the bacon was crispy but was not greasy and the chutney inside was perfectly matched. We will definitely be back and try their dinner and dessert menu!!Thanks heaps for the fantastic review, appreciated.Will pass on your kind comments to the kitchen crew. I won't have time to write a proper review because I am still here, facing the 6th course on a 6-course shared lunch.But I can say these:Location - 5 stars (inner city)Service - 5 stars (skilled waiter & open cooking)Atmosphere - 3 stars (audio ok, but visuals... opposite a car parking)Food - 5 starsDrinks - 4.5 starsFacilities - 5 starsPrice - 6 stars (I am not paying for this)Just book 1st. They do 4, 6 or 8 courses. We got the medium option and it does take over two hours. Two hours you won't regret.

Have been here a couple of times now and it never fails to impress. From the moment you arrive, you are looked after with the utmost attention and care.The food is amazing, cocktails to die for and the staff are all so wonderful This has to be the best restaurant around Christchurch. Very popular so you have to book well in advance. Stopped at Tavern Hardwood before catching a flight to Australia.As we were in the doorstep at 11.30 we were the first customers in.Prompt efficient service with a smile.I had the Corn Fritters with Bacon, Avocado and Tomato Salsa. Fritters were nice and light, generous serving of bacon. Portioning of avocado and the Tomato Salsa could have been "a bit more".For dessert I had the Hokey Pokey and Chocolate Cheesecake. It was scrumptious.Again another well presented meal at one of our favourite places for a bite to eat.
