We called in on our way to Invercargill. The coffee was good served with a tasty toastie. Service was friendly and very quick. There was a good variety of food to chose from, however, we only needed a quick bite on the go.

On our way south from Dunedin to the Catlins and we stopped for petrol and a mid morning coffee and snack. Good coffee and tasty savoury scone. Quite a smart cafe with carpets and padded chairs. Friendly staff, They offer a good range of food and drink and have an all day breakfast menu. Conveniently just opposite the Balclutha Tourist Information Office where we picked up some useful leaflets and valuable information from the helpful assistant.

If you want to purchase a possum sweater or some Manuka honey, add the Pennydale shop to your itinerary. You will not find better prices anywhere on the South nor North Islands. The prices are 20% to 50% less than you'll pay at other shops throughout the country. I wish I had made more purchases here; however, I had just begun my NZ adventure. Am pleased I bought a beautiful blue zip-cardigan possum sweater. Perfect for cool weather in my home in Boston, Massachusetts. And, love the Manuka honey.
