My wife and I were staying nearby and picked Il Forno Di Napoli based on the excellent reviews here on TA. I'm kind of a pizza buff (see my review of Tony's Pizza of San Francisco here in TA) and I was attracted to the pictures of the crust at Il Forna as well as their use of a wood-fired oven.We went on a Tuesday night and the place was full when we arrived. Luckily they had one table left for the two of us. But after we were seated, a line started to form outside. This was around 9 PM, so you can imagine what things might look like on a Friday or Saturday night. The pizza was A+ and virtually everyone seemed to be ordering at least one. We also ordered a pasta dish which was very good. But what really caught my interest was the bruschetta. It was really excellent. I've enjoyed bruschetta in many restaurants in the US, France and Italy. I make it at home frequently during "tomato season". Interestingly, there was no obvious garlic in the topping (although the bread might have been infused with garlic). What I tasted was a strong oregano and salt flavor coupled with a high-quality olive oil. They used sliced cherry tomatoes in their offering. We absolutely cleaned the entire plate! Now with nearly 1000 TA reviews and a 4.5 TA rating, I was not discouraged by a few reviewers who claimed the owner was not welcoming to Americans -- even if they ordered in French. I think the issue in that particular case was that the family is ITALIAN and the majority of the customers there seem to be Italian (at least on the night we were there). I tried to counter any potential problems when the owner came to the door to greet us -- I shook his hand, smiled and said "Buono Sera" (one of about 6 Italian words I know). From that point on, he and his staff couldn't have been any more welcoming although it was clear that we weren't French or Italian. The night we were there, only the owner, his wife and a young lady (perhaps a daughter) comprised the wait staff. They work REALLY HARD -- they never stopped moving and everyone (including the owner) pitched in with all aspects of the food service. Yet they had time to admire a babe in arms and congratulate the proud grandparents. I'd visit here again without hesitation and look forward to my next visit to Paris!
