Reviews on Middle Eastern food in Tangier, Tangier-Tetouan Region, Morocco. Located on the Strait of Gibraltar where Africa meets Europe, Tangier has long held strategic importance. Ruled through the centuries by waves of conquerors including Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Arabs and Portuguese, the city is more than two and a half millennia old, making it one of North Africa's most ancient. The medina, kasbah, bazaars and souks are among the country's most vibrant, and the beaches are excellent. In the last century, Tangier became a hot spot for the international jet set.

We (group of 10) asked our tour guide to take us to a restaurant where local people would dine at. We wanted to stay away from touristy style restaurants and we were not disappointed. We had to rely on some translations from the tour guide helping us as our server didn't really speak English (as probably this place cater mostly to locals). The food quality was pretty good, and the prices were much cheaper than other Tangier restaurants we've been to. Service was not too bad but could be improved.

We serve authentic Moroccan dishes Couscous Tangine Fish Pincitos of fish/chicken Meat Balls And many more..
This is a tiny traditional restaurant, run by a local man who speaks excellent English, as well as French and presumably Arabic. The walls are entirely tiled with plenty of wall hangings. Beautiful traditional plates. No menu as such, instead the chef says what he has in the kitchen and you take it from there. We had Moroccan veg soup, salad and meatballs, all delicious, and very inexpensive. Well worth finding this little place.

Want good food at very affordable prices...then Ali Baba is the place to visit after a nice stroll along the marina malecon. A local turned us on to this establishment. and we are glad we took his advise. The service was fast, the food tasty and the price was quite inexpensive. The lemon chicken tangine was quite tastier than the couscous but we enjoyed both.

We've been to this restaurant twice, both with group tours. First time was for lunch three years ago. Second time was for dinner in November on a return visit to Tangier. The restaurant is located inside the Medina thus convenient to stay for a meal during a walking tour in the Medina. The tour guide on our last visit arranged live music and a belly dancer for our group. Maybe it was the low season, we were the only group in the entire restaurant on the second floor this time. Both times we had set menus with 3 courses (with choices for entree, beef or chicken tagine). The food was good, service was attentive, but due to its location catering to tourists (?), their prices were quite expensive in Morocco standards.

Iâve had lamb tagine more times than I can count over the last month in Morocco. This was one of the worst. Which is to say itâs been great everywhere else (including for a fraction of what I just paid in medina stalls). So it was edible despite how tough the meat was, and the service was quite good. For one of the top restaurants in Tangier I expected better.

This small, 4 tables, restaurant offers a warm welcome and excellent food. Esma and her Syrian husband deliver authentic and healthy Syrian cuisine that caters for vegans and vegetarians. We had the most tasty babaganoush, humus and tabboulah. The restaurant has a truly international feel that fits with the whole Tanger vibe.

Had dinner here and it was fantastic. Food was awesome and the comedy value was out of this world. Started off quiet with Hassan himself working and wishing 30 minutes or so it was full. People walking up the street were popping in to help and fanning the BBQ for him. No panic whatsoever. Food was just amazing. Swordfish and chicken for us both just do tasty. Canât recommend this place enough. We just stumbled across it but will he back again before we depart Tangier.

We travelled throughout the northern part of Morocco, including Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Atlas Mountains, and Essouaria. The restaurant that stood out was Rif Kebdani in Tangier. The lamb tagine was superb, the fresh bread was warm, the atmosphere was cozy and the service was very welcoming. Definitely a memorable experience and the food highlight of the whole trip.

We were a family of 5, and ordered the Royal couscous and soup. The food is certainly good (although not the best Couscous I have had), but it was very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and very service minded, and we enjoyed ourselves. Definitely recommended.
