True, the choices around Mt. Carmel are limited. This is truly food cooked with love. I still don't know what Druze food is, but I'm glad that our tour bus stopped here for lunch. We were the first of two groups to eat there, and the welcome and service were amazing. Dad welcomed us and had a special room for our tour leaders. Mom was serving. Daughter was cooking in the back (we were told that the sesame cookies that we had at the end were her specialty, and they were worth the cost of admission!). Chicken Schnitzel and falafel were on the menu. Both very good. The spread of salads was really great and had some originals that we hadn't had before (maybe that's what makes it Druze). Lunch included some exotic drinks and ended with coffee. A memorable meal.

Nazareth dishes with a Mediterranean , Morrocan , Persian , Italian , French , and Indian twists !! And what a twist it was. It is our opinion that the food served here combined with the ambiance of a 200 years old restored mansion and the friendliness of
Step back in time and enjoy a "chef restaurant" from before the time the name was invented. It's a little museum in the Old City and don't be put off by the quirky Smoking Allowed notices. Either sit at a window or outside in the alley - I hesitate to call it a balcony. We started with Goat Cheese Arabic salad - wow. Then onto Grilled Vegetables and Muhmar an Arabic pizza (but not like any pizza you've tasted so far).Waiters are old world attentive and the Frida Kahlo painter's corner was cute, if not doubtful. Tinkle on the ivories as you look up at Beethoven's portrait.

We had a big (15 people) family lunch at Al Sultan. The food was good, but the service was awful:- Only mineral water (18 shekels) were server, since they "ran out the bottles, and cannot serve tap water". By the way, it was not really mineral water, but bottled tap water.- The children's meals, that are expected to be brought as fast as possible, were served after 30 minutes, long after the adults has finished the lunch.- The main dishes were put on the table without explanations, therefore we had several confusions. The waiter's answer was: "it was your fault".

Bayat is a great little restaurant, with some tasty dishes, a young, lively atmosphere and a big selection of alcohol (the place is owned by Christians, hence the free-flowing alcohol - including Taibe beer, the only real Palestinian beer). Choose to sit
We were recommended Bayat by our Hotel, as well as a few other restaurants and cafes. We were warmly greeted by the youthful and very pleasant staff. They worked constantly, always observing tables to attend to their needs. We ordered the Chefs salad and the Chestnut Ravioli. The salad was fresh and huge. The Ravioli was so tasty, dressed in butter and truffle oil as well as an artichoke heart. I thought my Ravioli was perfect. We were served some freshly cooked bread with butter but returned it as there was no way we could have fit it in (we hate wasting food). A beautiful French Chardonnay complemented the meal really well. We really enjoyed Bayat, the rest on Nazareth has huge shoes to fill for our remaining time here.

What a great surprise! We passed near by and came in for lunch. First of all we received a very friendly welcome. Then we were lucky to decide to try the stuffed vegetables. These were amazingly good. Delicately seasoned, the eggplant, squash, vine leaves ang cabage leaves were so full of delicate tatses keeping the unique essence of each vegetable. The rice stuffing was modest and accurate. The tomato sauce was comlementary and delicious. They were simply the best I tatsed. Then we had Arab salad with extra olive oil. We got a big bottle of home made olive oil, so we could add as much as we wanted. The salad was excellent and the oil was the best you can get. Then we had Ossobuco which also amazing. It was meat with a big hollow bone on rice. The meat and the bone were so good. You felt many different spices, yet all so delicately and accurately implemented. We also enjoyed the comlementary herb tea wich consisted of fresh sage & louisa. It came with a piece of baklava. That piece was the only ordinary food included in this meal. This a place to return to.
