I was staying overnight at a nearby hotel, and I am vegan so I decided to try the falafel at Maiwand. The falafel balls were small and they were greasy; I didn't finish them. I ordered the platter, so I can also comment on the hummus and the bread. Both of those made the meal, and I did finish them. The servers were very nice, the portions are large, the salad was fresh, and the restaurant was very clean.

Went with the family for lunch. The food was excellent. Bakalva is made with pistachios instead of the usual walnuts, and is truly delicious. My vegan wife and gluten-free daughter had outstanding meals. The only down side was that there was only one server, who was quickly overwhelmed by the volume of guests in the restaurant.

On one of my last nights in Baltimore--a windy, cold, blustery night, I wandered down the street from my hotel to pick up the take-out fare I had ordered from my hotel room. The service was impeccable, even for a take-out patron! The bartender offered a nice beverage while I waited, which wasn't long, and the food, when it came, was hot and plentiful. I had ordered a variety of dishes, covered my face as I trudged back to my hotel, and enjoyed a sumptuous feast of delightful, well prepared Turkish dishes, including doner kebab with kadayifi for dessert. Yum!

Providing Baltimore with fine Afghan cuisine for over 23 years.
Spent a number of years at Hopkins and would always eat at the Helmand. Came back to Baltimore to find that the Helmand hasn't changed. The food is fabulous. The waitstaff are attentive and the ambience is warm. Siddiq is fabulous. Thank you for maintaining the wonderful standard you set many years ago!!

We have ordered from BayLeaf a couple times now through Eat24, and we have really been impressed with the food. The Vegetable Samosas are the right kind of crispy on the outside and packed full of great chickpeaness inside. I was impressed to see that they had Goat on the menu, you don't see that everywhere. The Chicken Jalfreezi is really tender, although it may not be the best Jalfreezi sauce I've ever tasted. One tip is to always order everything Extra Spicy if you want it to have any flavor at all.The Cauliflower in the Aloo Gobi was soft and delicious. They have several varieties of Naan, but remember that it is extra greasy so you'll need to be careful. With varied and interesting food like this, we'll have to try the sit down location sometime.
