Find out what Middle Eastern restaurants to try in Albany. A rich 300-year history, a thriving arts community and seemingly endless wilderness make this New York capital city on the Hudson River a great weekend getaway. Outdoor enthusiasts come here to ski, hike, canoe and fish; trout and small-mouth bass fishing is among the best in the U.S. Mountains surround the city, and the tapestry of golds and reds on an autumn day is breathtaking. The city is dominated by an elaborate 10-building complex that includes the State Capitol; the New York State Museum, with life-like dioramas such as American Indian life and an Adirondack logging operation; and the oval-shaped Empire State Performing Arts Center, nicknamed "The Egg." History buffs will enjoy the colonial homes, historic churches and museums, and can tour 18th-century mansions, like the Schuyler, a superb example of pre-Revolutionary War architecture. Whether nature or history is your passion, you'll find an abundance of both in this upstate New York gem.

I was craving for Turkish eggplant dish.. and Kismet hit the spot amazingly..Started with shakshuka (eggplant, peppers, veggies in tomato sauce).. which was really good.. comes also with pita bread..I got the musakka (roasted eggplant with ground meat in clay pot topped with just a touch of melted cheese) which was so yummy..Our cuz got red lentil soup and trio appetizer sampler (babagannush, hummus and shaksuka) and she liked all of them..I canât go back to try other dishes.. Wish they also offer authentic Sunday Turkish breakfast...

While visiting my mother-in-law in a nearby nursing home, we found ourselves needing lunch and we found this restaurant down the road. While it is in a little strip mall, the restaurant is quite spacious and has linen tablecloths and napkins. Three of us ordered the Mediterranean Plate, my husband ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. All of us were very happy, and very full! The Mediterranean Plate came with a large basket of toasted pita. We will definitely return!

Mamoun's Cafe is a mainstay on Washington Street, having been in business for many years. On a recommendation from a friend, we arrived on a Friday night at peak dining hour to find a nearly empty restaurant where the decor is a bit tired. As such, service was quick to take our order and our falafel appetizers arrived quickly. Honestly, the falafel was the highlight of the evening. These were well seasoned and the tahini sauce made these special. But, the entrees were disappointing. I ordered the couscous with an upcharge of $4 to include their lamb. The couscous served as the base of the dish, but was plain and unseasoned. The steamed seasonal vegetables were overcooked and mushy, and a single lamb patty, cut into four wedges, was the only protein to accompany the meal. By judiciously cutting the quarters into sixteenths, I was able to enjoy the combination in a single bit. Well, enjoy might not be the best term because, without the accompanying red sauce, the entree was a bit tasteless. Maybe it was the dish I ordered, because the restaurant rates well on Tripadvisor.
