we went to dinner with family and began with margaritas and beer. next, i had the veggie tostada, my partner had the champagne halibut pasta, and my sister had the rib eye steak with baked potato, and spinach. the staff are very friendly and efficient. the food was delicious.
We always look for a small family-type diner and always crave good Mexican-American style food. Found this small restaurant and was pleased that Jose himself was in the kitchen cooking. Daughter had a green chile omelet - big and flavorful, she couldn't finish it. I had eggs and chorizo, with lots of fresh made pico de gallo and warm tortillas. Nothing particularly special, just tasty, fast and hot.
Guess what? There are THREE Mexican restaurants in the same strip mall in Yucca Valley. Well, they are kind of hole-in-the-wall places, not really the fanciest. You can go down the street for those. But, if you are more into food than atmosphere then come here. However, this place is fairly spacious for what it is; there are tables in front, along the side and in a back alcove. Faux brick on the walls. The menu is displayed on the wall opposite of where you place your order. I didnât see the usual combo deals, so I ordered a la carte, dos enchiladas y a side of frijoles. You can probably bring your Canadian friends here as I thought the food was not really spicy. However, my wife ordered a chile relleno and when I sampled it, it made my tongue burn. The server explained that they use Poblano peppers instead of the usual California peppers, and they are muy picante. They have some kids/senior combos, like one enchilada with rice and beans for $5.00, which sounds like a good deal. My enchiladas were $4.00. Tacos on Taco Tuesday are only $1.00 and we may come back on a regular basis for that. I can hardly make them myself for that price. They also have $5.00 specials on Wednesdays. Oh â the service was very friendly as I asked for some lechuga (lettuce) to top my enchiladas and it was brought out promptly with no fuss or extra cost. So I say itâs OK and the prices are very good.
Great service by friendly staff, authentic meals and beverages, so good I went there five times in ten days while on vacation.
Taco Bell was always the go to place for tacos, It is still good , but Del Taco has better fresher food. So I don't visit Taco Bell as often!

We stopped at Algoberto's upon arrival in Yucca Valley. My son had arranged for the family restaurant to cater his wedding and we were there to write a check for the deposit. We had a taste of the traditional Mexican tacos for lunch and any concerns about having a "taco bar" at a wedding were assuaged - it was the perfect feast for the Awesome Desert Wedding. This family-run and very simple restaurant serves delicious Mexican food. Some reviewers did not like the service or the ambiance. Just know what to expect - it looks like a dive in a strip mall and the family does better in Spanish than in English. They handled the catering for dinner and next-day brunch with absolutely no hassles or problems. We paid the deposit by check with no receipt - they were on time, delivered, enjoyed the wedding with smiles and chatted with guests who spoke Spanish. They were patient in waiting through after-dinner toasts and all, until someone realized they needed to be paid. Everyone loved the food. They catered dinner, with an array of tacos, cheese enchiladas, beans and rice - no lard and delicious flavors. Some people have written reviews that the food is "greasy". It was authentic and flavorful, but it is not "health food" by any means. I loved the spicy pickled carrots and other side options as well. They also catered a brunch with scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes that was also delicious and simple. There were no problems with the handling of the catering for 120 people in spite of our limited conversations and moderate Spanish.
This is a great little diner in the back of a grocer. The fish tacos were good, the beans and rice were delicious and the veg burritos (take out) were fantastic.

Another great find for us on our travels. This cantina looked quite sparse and without atmosphere as we were the only guests for lunch. The menu had all the usual Mexican offerings - burritos, enchilladas, fajitas etc. We had a selection of dishes to share. They were all freshly made, very tasy and had the chance to increase our own spice level should we wish. Pity there weren't more customers but the food was excellent as was the price. The Margharita was outstanding too!

After my road trip through Joshua Tree National Park, I decided to stop here for a late lunch. I ordered the chicken fajita burrito. The food was delicious but the service was slow.

Donât miss it if you love Mexican food. Outstanding and authentic! A unique experience all around from the ultra friendliness of staff AND watching them hug the local customers as they leave. THIS IS THE PLACE and the wonderful welcoming of us tourists stopping in to dine as we made our way through town. We loved it! 5 stars all the way!
