Located behind the Mobile gas station. We found this gem through Google Search... we were not disappointed! I'm a displaced Southern Californian and am always on the search for authentic Mexican food. I only wish I lived closer...I ordered the carnitas combo burrito a la carte. The carnitas was seasoned very well and even though it was combined with rice and beans, it wa crisp and very flavorful. My husband got a chicken quesadilla. I tasted it and thought that the red sauce that was used was a bit overused, but the cheese, chicken sauce and tortilla all tasted good together. They also have street tacos, chicken and pork tamales, carnitas plate as well as other selections that were reasonable priced. There are a couple of tables on site with about eight chairs. Nothing fancy, but definitely worth a stop if you're hankering for a good meal! Yum!

Driving through Astoria on way to Long Beach. Called ahead for an order to go. Told it would take about 10 minutes. It was ready & waiting in 8 minutes. And delicious. Ordered "enmoladas oaxacenos" which is chicken wrapped in tortillas and covered in mole sauce. The mole tasted authentic and the whole dish was topped with avocado and real Oaxacan cheese. The man who served it was very sweet and the restaurant itself is attractively decorated with Mexican tiles. I'll definitely stop to enjoy the food and atmosphere here next time I'm in Astoria.

If you want a really good cuppa in central downtown Astoria, with some local "spice" thrown in, this is the place. It's on 10th St near main-drag Commercial. Mama Kristina runs the kitchen, Papa Richard drives their taxi service, Daughter Senita operates the counter and front room -- in mornings putting up with good-natured abuse from a gaggle of old boy regulars. The coffee is excellent and moderately priced. For a lasting memory, ask to use the toilet, an adventure indeed. This is a fine place, it made me happy, so I highly recommend the Downtown!

had dinner here last night of our trip, our service was great and the server was knowledgeable about the food but also the town and gave us some awesome tips for checking out Astoria. I had the Seafood Chimichanga it was huge and loaded with scallops, shrimp and crab my wife had the taco salad and same it was very good value for the money. This is authentic Mexican food and well established judging by all the locals eating there.

Tempting choices, including vegetarian options. It's a food-truck setup in a less-than-scenic setting, but who cares when the food is so tasty? The owner is friendly, too, and he was happy to customize my veggie tacos (no avocado or beans, please!).

I have eaten Latin food in many countries, and my wife is Hispanic....so I am very accustomed to Latin food, and Latin customs. This place is very highly rated in Astoria, and the price was very reasonable. Otherwise, I wasn't over-impressed with it. The music was too loud and annoying, There are lots of Hispanics in Oregon, but not many from the Caribbean (where the music I was hearing is from). Portions were large.

My husband LOVES Taco Bell and was so happy when they opened. We have been numerous times and each time the Drive Thru is extremely slow. Their food is always good...but it's a toss-up whether they will put those "hated tomatoes" on when he has requested they be withheld!! All in all....good service.

We were in town for a few days of clamming and had a craving for some good local Mexican food and weren’t disappointed! This place was excellent! It was apparent that this restaurant was a family affair and the friendly welcoming atmosphere was apparent from the moment we walked into this restaurant. The food was most excellent, really delicious, as was their margaritas. We can highly recommend this authentic Mexican restaurant to both friends and family. You won’t be disappointed!

El Catrin Mexican Restaurant

This restaurant is located in a mall just south of the Young's Bay Bridge in Warrenton, Oregon. In fact, when you leave the bridge take a right turn at the mall entrance and you will have arrived. The food is good and not too overly spiced as is often the case with Mexican food. Three sauces, red chili, green chili and guacamole, are provide that appeal to most tastes and should allow the customer to choose the amount of heat prefered. I found the guacamole sauce very tasty and used it not only on chips but on my steak fajitas. Everything appears to be made to order and came out hot! From the chips to the steak fajitas prepared with colorful peppers and onions the meal was enjoyable and servings were large enough to take home for next days lunch. The restaurant is spotless and very tastefully decorated. Seating is comfortable. Service was prompt and with a pleasant attitude and frequent checks to make certain that everyone at the table was finding their meal enjoyable. It can be difficult to find good food with such quick service in the Warrenton area but Tacos El Catrin provide just that for our visit. I checked prior to leaving and they are open daily from 11:00-9:00 except on Monday.
