The building is pretty bad and they only accept cash. No checks or credit/debit. The food is set up like a cafeteria with a server who adds food to your plate once you point at it, but the food looked like it had sat for a long time before we got there. Also, even though they claim to have traditional food I disagree. There wasn't any Mole, Migas, Pozole, etc... It was mostly bean and rice recipes. The tamarindo juice was good though, definitely the real deal.
I've eaten at el Charro, or as my fam calls it, the charro, since I was a baby. the soft cheese is only found here, no one else can make this dish! Love their rice, too! It's not your standard Mexican food, but the customers are loyal!
Taco Bueno was pushed out of my area (San Antonio) by Taco Cabana, so I rarely get Bueno these days.Staff was friendly and salsa bar was well-stocked. The food was just as I remembered. A bean burrito costs $1.49, IIRC. About 3x what it was when I worked at Bueno (1999), but if I worked there and still eat there, that's saying something.Their beans and salsa are made fresh in-house. Muy delicioso.
We had lunch on a Saturday. Our waitress was excellent! She was very attentive and checked in frequently. The food was good. My husband had the fajitas. They were very tender, but kind of bland. I had the sampler appetizer plate. It was a good way to taste several things they offer.

Came here with a large group and we sat outside. We were served promptly. Margaritaâs are huge and delicious. We all had mains only and that was just as well as the portions were huge! I would definitely come back here and recommend the fajitas. Some in our party had never had Mexican before and this restaurant made them want it again.

This was our first trip to this restaurant. It is large and good for big groups. The chips were warm and tasty. The salsa was just spicy enough and had a good flavor. I ordered Enchiladas Tejanas which is two cheese enchiladas covered with spicy queso, topped with chicken fajita and pico de gallo. Itâs served with rice and beans. I really enjoyed the combination of flavors! My husband ordered Enchiladas Mexicanas. It comes with two cheese enchiladas covered with chili con carne sauce, topped with beef fajitas and fresh pico de gallo. It too came with rice and beans. He really enjoyed his selection as well. The servers were very friendly, stopped by frequently to see if we needed anything and made us feel welcome. We will be back!
