We eat here fairly often. They have delicious food and outstanding margaritas. It is a little noisy most of the time, but since it has more of a sports bar type atmosphere, that is understandable. Plenty of families and groups come here as well. The only thing I wish they had was an outside patio where nonsmokers would be comfortable. There is quite a lot of smoking on their patio.

Raizes Mexican Kitchen

Reviewed By SLTX83

Like the rest of the Houston Metro area, Fort Bend County has a good number of restaurants featuring Mexican cuisine, although too many are chain based as opposed to family owned establishments.By total happenstance, I came across one of those family owned “best kept secret” types of places and it was hiding in plain sight. If you appreciate a breakfast that presents well, is tasty, and is clearly prepared with pride, Raizes Mexican Kitchen Coffee House is a good bet.I was looking for something different for a Sunday breakfast and found Raizes on Dulles Avenue (across from the Middle School). Raizes is unassuming on the outside and is really easy to miss, but it is very clean and cozy inside. The first positive was the fragrance of fajita beef as we walked in the door.I had the Chilaquiles with chicken, and my wife chose Migas con Huevo. The dishes were wonderful. Mine was right up with the best I have ever had. It arrived hot and fresh plated. The salsa verde was wonderful, very tasty and mild. The hot sauce is also good, but not for the faint of heart. Of course, we traded bites. The Migas had some really well marinated beef with it. Both came with excellent refried beans while mine came with potatoes as well. The flour tortillas were warm and prepared just right.I don’t know about lunch and dinner, but chips and salsa is not served with breakfast. This turned out very well because the portions were plenty healthy. The service was personable and attentive. Interestingly enough, the time between taking the order and service seemed a little long until the food arrived and we quickly realized it was all prepared fresh and to order. Nothing pre-staged about this at all.I think I have found a new fave. Good food, clean place, pleasant décor, reasonable prices, friendly folks, and open on Sunday as well!. My only real complaint is that I did not discover it earlier.

Lupe Tortilla

I had been to this restaurant last spring and really enjoyed their food. Earlier tonight, I returned and had a different experience.I decided to order one of their Tex-Mex plates. From what I understood from the menu, you could choose three different foods (ex. 1 taco, 1 chalupa & 1 flauta) for $14.95. I asked our server if my understanding was correct and he said yes, so I ordered an enchilada, a chalupa and a tamale, while my brother ordered an original burrito. We enjoyed our food and our server was very nice, coming back to check on us several times despite the fact that the restaurant was super busy. When we got our receipt, I found upcharges totaling almost $8, in addition to the prices of our plates. When I asked our server and another waiter about it, they said that there was an additional charge for ordering fajita beef for the specific foods I had chosen. (I mean, really?) When I was ordering, our waiter did NOT mention that there would be extra charges of any kind to my food simply because I ordered a different kind of beef. A plate that should have been $14.95, and would have filled me up just as much as a plate costing $14.95, ended up totaling over $22. Ridiculous. Our server did politely apologize about the misconception and miscommunication, but did not offer any sort of small discount or other form of compensation. This location is close to home and the food is genuinely good. After this experience, however, I'm not particularly inclined to go back, at least not anytime soon.

Carmelo's Mexican Grill

Just to be clear, I live the food. However, I review businesses on many things, including:- Food quality- Food presentation- Restaurant cleaniness- Ambiance- Customer Service- Business practicesFor me Carmelo's excels in everything, except for business practices. Unfortunately, Carmelo's is the type of restaurant where one had to be careful of the extra charges on the bill. I love the food, but hat to have to really think about what I am ordering. Following are my two experiences:1) I went with my wife for brunch / lunch. My wife ordered a lunch plate and I ordered two breakfast tacos. The waiter asked me if she should bring chips and salsa. I said yes, thinking this is like any other Mexican place where the chips and salsa is complementary. The Chips were regular bagged chips heated up and the salsa was quite mediocre and boring. Later on, I saw a charge of $1.99 on the bill. When I asked, the owner said that it's $1.99 for chips and salsa if you order it with breaksfast. I said that first off, we were not informed that it would be extra, and then how could she assume that the chips we're ordered with breakfast tacos and not the lunch plate. She promptly removed the add-on2) This experince was even worse. I ordered a bunch of tacos for friends and family. While waiting for the order, I did some mental math and figured the bill should be around $36 + tax. When I got the bill, it was more like $48 and change. I was shocked and asked her what the deal was. The owner told me that when she asked me if I wanted spicy tacos, she added $1 per taco + tax!!!!! What!?!? A DOLLAR for Hot sauce per taco. Again, I was not informed of the upcharge and it is not advertised on the menuSo, this for me is completely unacceptable, but a great lesson to be careful about Carmelo's

I stumbled in here last week looking for a quick meal during a training course I was taking. Service was good, nice and attentive in the bar area. Unfortunately the food wasn’t so great. I ordered their shrimp that was recommended which came with cheese tortillas, rice beans and all the fixin’s like a fajita dish. It looked great. It tasted bland and without any flavor. Tortillas were in a bag and hard except for the middle. It just wasn’t very good at all and I love shrimp and fajitas but this just isn’t good. Sorry guys, you were all really nice but the food was terrible at any price.

We sat on the patio and ordered half order vegan nachos and chicken enchiladas. They have vegan and vegetarian options. Our server was very nice and attentive. He kept coming back to check on us and the food. Good choice for lunch. We will return when in the area.

We were a very large group so had to wait for the table, I was fine with this as I was told ten to fifteen minutes but it was 45 minutes later that eventually we got the table. The food was good with all orders being correct and coming together. Our waiter (think his name was Madden or similar) was outstanding, very attentive to our needs and was always there with refills and on hand if he was needed.I took the one point away due to the waiting for a table for so long but everything else was great.

Pappasiitos is my favorite restaurant anywhere. The food is always delicious and piping hot. The service is excellent. I got something totally different this time. - the chicken burrito. It was amazing. It came with rice and beans and I also ordered a side of guacamole. So yummy. My husband had the hatch pepper chili rellenos. Also delicious. And be sure to ask for the green sauce. It’s the best.
