Things to do in Saint Helens
An authentic Mexican place in an old red building near downtown. Wonderful dishes, made to order. Great sauces. Friendly service, esp if you speak a little Spanish to them and let them know you appreciate their business. The torta sandwich is divine. I do wish they didn't serve food on foam plates/cups, but this is the best Mexican place in Woodland, IF you are willing to stray from garden variety Tex-Mex.

Lunch at El Rancho Viejo was a pleasant surprise. Really not many authentic Mexican restaurants north of Tucson, AZ but this one qualifies. Chips and both salsas were good. Burritos, Chili Rellenos and Tamales were very good, flavorful and a more than adequate serving size. The Enchilada was not up to par. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was quick. Pricing for some items seemed a bit high. I will be back

This one is a cut above the rest. Very clean, prompt, friendly service. Pretty good salsa. I ordered the chili verde burrito. Good sauce but the meat was a little dry. Rice and beans were spot-on.

My wife, friends and family have assisted me in determining this review. I've been here at least 6 times to partake of their menu. My family has been constantly searching for good quality Mexican food since moving from Texas about 5 1/2 years ago. I give this place a C rating, or a 3 out of 5 "stars."We have tried many items/meals from their menu and I do recommend having the consistently good refined beans. I had the privilege of another recent visit on July 1st. 2017. The glass of Sangia was nice and I had requested not much ice and they obliged but filled the space with additional fruit.I always ask for barbaqioa just in case they have it but they didn't again this time. My guest suggested. I try Codorniz since I like QUAIL, which is described as " delicious QUAIL marinated on a sweet lime chipotle sauce cooked over charcoal." - $12.75 or 12.99. I thought wow!, what a bargain at that price and I haven't had it in a while so this should be awesome. It came out and I was laughing throughout the meal even when she asked me how is the meal. Why???What I got was a Cornish game hen. Trust me. I have had plenty of quail in my lifetime and this was No Quail. Hmmm...maybe they ran out, the cook used the wrong bird or even didn't know any better. If you advertise something as QUAIL then use QUAIL. The sauce was .

Okay, so it's not REAL Mexican food.... and it's not where I'd take a date for a romantic dinner... and it's a chain fast food restaurant ..... and you know what they serve really isn't good for you... and who knows what kind of meat they are really using...but if it's your turn to cook and you really can't think of what to make AND you can have your significant other make you a margarita while you run down to Taco Bell to get a couple orders of Nacho Belgrande, then it just might be worth it every once in a while....

Good food, reasonable prices. Been here on several occasions and the food and service is consistently good. Had the Mango margarita on special and it was very tasty as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Mexican cuisine.
