Things to do in Rosemead
ok, there are a lot of fish taco places in Southern California that I likeâ¦and most of them are near the beach. This hole-in-the-wall is closer to downtown Los Angeles in Rosemead, and does not look like much, but the fish tacos are fantastic. The fish is deep-fried delicious, along with some cabbage and a white sauce that I would put on everything if I had the recipe. Go on Wednesday's when they are $.99 apiece and get 4. You won't regret it.
Came to this place at the suggestion of a friend, I must say that I was quite impressed!Their carne asada tacos was superb, the pastor was quite good as well.Though they don't have a self serving salsa bar, I think the ratio of red and green salsa as well as the onion cilantro mix that they add to the tacos is very well balanced.Chicken tacos were a bit disappointing as they were too dry. Lengua was quite good and the tripa was delicious, crisp and done just right. Will definitely come back for more if I am in the area.
A nice location in a strip mall. Plenty of parking. The place was clean and bright. The service was friendly and fast. And of course the food was good. Indoor and outdoor seating.

After my fourth visit over a period of years, I continue to think this is the best Mexican cuisine outside of Mexico (and possibly IN Mexico). Chef Roberto produces inventive, delicious delicacies to delight diners at this small, unpretentious place in an unlikely locale. He proudly uses the best ingredients; he will describe them to you (how often do you go somewhere where the chef talks to his customers whenever he can?). The soup of the day seems to be always dual, with interesting flavors complimenting each other. The regular menu is extensive but there is always a special entree. A seared scallop on our plate was the largest, most succulent ever (and we know scallops). The sauces are diverse and distinctive but not overpowering. Have a dietary problem? Once I went with a companion who had major food allergies. He described them to Chef Roberto, who then created an entirely off-the-menu meal for him that he pronounced one of the best he had ever eaten. Strongly recommended to anyone who likes good food. Only moderately expensive and a great value at that. Drive a while, park on the street, but go! You won't regret it.

They served three different salsas with the chips; something for everyone. Nice portions and the food was quite good. One in our party received her enchilada with meat rather than cheese. The server apologized and showed her the ticket. It was an error on the cooks part. Very convenient to the mission and the playhouse.
