Decided to try this restaurant after reading a review in the local paper but were disappointed. We tried four different entries (camarones el crema, chimichanga, burrito and chicken fajita). All were so-so. The beef burrito was ended up being chicken and not very warm. We found the service was quite slow despite the restaurant only having three other tables occupied. The house happy hour margaritas were like drinking margarita mix w/o alcohol on ice. All-in-all, with the number of good mexican restaurants in central Oregon, this one would be a way down the list for me at this time.

La Frontera is a very specialized Mexican restaurant, in that you feel like you are in Mexico. The food is very diverse, with several menu items you would rarely see, like one of my favorites, Birria de chivo, a spicy goat stew. There are several such unusual items, like Pozole and Caldo de Res, but also more common ones like egg dishes, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, carnitas, carne asada, and many others. The meat choices are also broad -- carnitas, adobada, lengua, pollo, cabeza, carne asada, etc There is a salsa bar that has chips, perhaps 5-6 diverse salsas (2 green, 3 red, one yellow), vegetables (carrots, onions, radishes and makes for great snacking while you wait. They also have a Mexican market, providing great supplies if you like to cook food; you can get very diverse things from Mexico, such as beers and sodas, cheeses, corn husks, masa dough, tortillas, odd candies, and much more. I was recently there on a Sunday afternoon, and every table was full -- with a lot of families, and I'd say that at that time, about half their business was take out. Adding to the authenticity was the preponderance of diners speaking Spanish. It's a great diversion from the standard Tex-Mex fare that most places serve and well worth trying.

This was our second choice for breakfast in Redmond, since our first destination was closed for the Memorial Day Weekend. The food was delicious, with large tasty portions.Joy had their steak and eggs, and I had Huevos rancheros -- with some fresh spicy salsa on the top.The staff were very friendly and attentive, joking with the patrons. There were lots of various sized sombreros decorating the walls.

A large menu offers a variety of authentic Mexican dishes. The portions were very sizeable - my partner and I spent around $20 total (on the two of us) and had more than enough for lunch at the crag the next day. There is a cold salad bar with a variety of hot sauces and pickled vegetables free of charge. We stayed in Redmond for 3 nights and went here twice! We tried a variety of meats and while all were delightful, I would say the Adobada was my personal favourite. You can dine in or order your food to go. The service was excellent and we enjoyed dining in both times we went.

We were a party of 6 and we were here for lunch. Typical Mexican fare, nothing really extraordinary. Still good though. Price was okay, not cheap, but not too expensive. The drinks though were great and they give you a lot!Pretty clean looking establishment, just a little worn and needing some updates. I'd eat here again, but wouldn't be my first choice.

We went here as one of our very few visits to a Mexican restaurant. It was hard work trying to understand what each dish is. We also felt the staff were getting frustrated but we had no idea what each of the things were. The food we had felt like we could get it anywhere. It did not feel unique or special. Taste was ok but nothing I would say to friends 'you have to try this'.Toilets were clean and layout is good so you have good privacy.

When we visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon, it was a true "Mom" and "Pop" experience. Mom was the server and Pop was the chef. The restaurant, located across the parking lot from Fred Meyer in a small strip mall, has the ambiance of a ... well, small restaurant in a strip mall. When visiting a new Mexican restaurant, I like to order a chili relleno. Not feeling very hungry, I was unhappy to find that their menu only offered two chili rellenos for around $15, which sounded like too much food and too expensive. I settled for a chili relleno burrito, and it was huge. Oh boy! It was covered by a very good green enchilada sauce. The chili relleno itself was small and overwhelmed by rice and beans. Well, it was all good, but it was more than I cared to eat. Our server, "Mom", said that her husband made an outstanding mole sauce so my wife had chicken in mole sauce accompanied by the ubiquitous rice and beans. The mole sauce was reportedly very good. My son, who has a big appetite, ordered a beef burrito, also covered with enchilada sauce. He thought it was very good, but being a hard core carnivore he picked out the vegetables in the burrito. Beer selection was poor as is often the case in Mexican restaurants (unless one likes Mexican beer). In summary, the food was somewhat unique and very good but a little overpriced for a casual mom and pop restaurant.

The food wasn't spectacular...good, but not spectacular. There are better choices for Mexican food in Redmond. I thought the prices were high. They charged $5.00 for a little tiny bowl of pico de gallo!!!!! Plan on spending $38-$50 per couple without alcohol!Service was good.

Stopped by on our way through town based on other reviews. Excellent fish tacos made with halibut that was perfectly prepared. Sat outside where they have a comfortably shaded patio. There was a generator running next door that was a bit obnoxious but other than that, great experience!I appreciate your feedback, and look forward to serving you again!
