Reviews on Mexican food in Patterson, New York, United States. Patterson is a town in Putnam County, New York, United States. The town is in the northeast part of the county. Interstate 84 passes through the southwest part of the town. The population was 12,023 at the 2010 census. The town is named after early farmer Matthew Paterson. My wife and I visited here for the second time. It seems like they have changed their food a bit, I guess they decided to be more like the restaurants in Brewster that call themselves Mexican Restaurants. They have really Americanized their food, or gringo-ized it. Last night, one special entrée, last time three or four. If you like to say you went to a Mexican Restaurant without really eating authentic Mexican fare, this would be good for you. Too bad, it was a good place when it started out.

We stumbled on this very much by accident. We were staying in Pawling for one night and the restaurant that was recommended was full. We saw this from a distance and tried it as I work in Mexico a lot and love Mexican food. The title captures it - it is a mini mart with about 3 tables. If atmosphere is important to you - get the food to go. The TV was blaring a Spanish language program. There were 3 teens at the other end of our table, being teens.BUT, the food was great and really cheap. The tamales were loaded with meat and vegetables (never had that before) and were $2. The enchiladas came out as sopes - but were so good it didn't matter. My wife ordered a platter with rice, beans etc.we ordered guacamole, not on the menu, and they made it fresh.while we were waiting. Before the tip - our bill was about $20 and we ordered much more food than we could finish. It felt like we were in a small local restaurant in a small non tourist town in central Mexico.Very, very good find and a reminder to get off the typical tourist trail.

Went here for a change of pace from our usual Friday night out (as an alternative to our original plan).Fresh made table side guacamole made to your desired level of spice. I had the Beef Chimichangas which weren't bad. Lots of meat in them. Others in the party had Fajitas, Enchiladas. All well received. Less expensive than places closer to home.

After my previous visit to Las Mananitas I wrote a glowing review and gave it four out of five. I am sorry to say that my latest visit was terribly disappointing.Let's start by accepting that this place is hugely popular. The massive car park is often very full. There is a large multi-layered patio with great views - and this really is the place to sit when the weather is good. The food is good, although the service - including the wait times for drinks orders and the time taken for food to arrive - is very patchy. The worst aspect of this visit was the truly awful fight to get a table! First of all, you have to know where the front door is (the way to the podium, right?) which isn't necessarily as easy as it sounds because the solid door is unmarked and it is easier to walk around the side and sometimes a waiter will grab you and seat you without visiting the podium (we've seen this happen several times). But let's assume you go to the podium; and let's assume you have a booking. Well, on the basis of our recent experience, the booking means nothing. The chaotic podium means that it's the same person checking you off in the diary, then taking you to a table, often leaving the podium empty for long stretches. And then, because there's no separate line for booking, all the people without bookings fight their way to the front and will, nevertheless, often be seated before people WITH bookings. I know, because that was our experience. In the mad scramble I witnessed several groups almost coming to blows because (A) alleged that (B) had pushed in. In one case I saw an elderly guy tell the hostess that he had a reservation, only for her to rudely wave him away and seat a group who earlier told me that they didn't have a reservation! This could so easily be sorted out. A rope in the center of the passageway from the front door to the podium, and signs showing "WITH RESERVATIONS" and "WITHOUT RESERVATIONS". And then, most crucially of all, a host or hostess that was GLUED to the podium to control the guests in a proper manner - with guests with reservations given priority at their booking time.My family will think twice about going there again after that chaotic check-in and then incredibly long wait even for someone to take a drinks order.Such a shame. This place could be amazing, but instead, it's arrogant and sloppy. Someone with an eye for detail needs to manage it.
