The Carnitas were the most tender we have found anywhere. This is a great little place, but you have to look carefully to see it because of the location. Not too busy so you always get seated immediately, and the wait staff is friendly and efficient. Prices are very reasonable and the place is decorated like a true part of Old Mexico. The owners are from Oaxaxa on the Pacific coast of Mexico and there are authentic items on the menu from that region. This is Mexican food, not Tex-Mex. We will be back many times.

We had a business lunch there and the service was good, a little slow but they were lucky we were not in a hurry. There were a lot of choices on the menu. I thought this would be more authentic Mexican, by the looks of the place. I asked for something spicy and it came out bland. Even the salsa was bland. I had higher expectations and it did not meet them for Mexican food. I will find someone else to eat again.

It wasn't to bad, just disappointing for Mexican restaurant in SE Texas. It was like Old El Paso met cafeteria food. The service was quick and friendly and it wasn't to bad on the price but I've had better Mexican food in Iowa. The salsa was pretty good but most of the places in area serve it warm and it's much better.

We ate dinner here the other night and it was wonderful!!! Service, food, drinks, salsa & chips were amazing. I ordered the enchilada's with gravy over them; my husband had tamales; and my son ordered Chimichanga dinner plate. My husband and I had Margarita's with dinner. It was all very good and we left there stuffed. I plan on eating here again very soon. I recommend you give them a try too, I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed that you did.
I tend to set the standard of a Tex-Mex restaurant first by trying the cheese enchiladas. This restaurant did not disappoint We attended with about eighty friends for breakfast. Our food, cheese enchiladas and huevos rancheros with retried beans and not flour and corn tortillas were superb. The only complaint was the long wait to get the food. However in my opinion the wait did not have any negative impact on the food and letâs face it... we threw 80 people at them as one group ready to eat. This would be difficult for anyone.

Food was good as usual but wait time was extremely long for La Suprema. It was almost an hour to get our food and the grandkids were getting really restless waiting on their food. I realize it was Fatherâs Day but we went at about 11:30 and didnât get the food until almost 12:30 pm. Anyways, we love this restaurant so we will be back.

La Cantina now offers white chile con queso! It was served with ground beef and pickled jalapenos. Delicious with a frozen margarita!

The white cheese dip is the best. The beef fajita nachos were very good. The beef is tender and has a great smoked taste.

This restaurant was located in Port Arthur years ago. It was a good place...then! I have tried Taco Rey in Nederland on two different occasions. Both times the food was below average. And both times when I returned home, I was very sick to my stomach. I enjoy Mexican food and patronize several Mexican restaurants in our area. I will not be back to Taco Rey.
