A great place to eat when you visit Chapala, amazing views, free boats rides, delicious food and a familiar environment.
My mother and I saw this highly rated restaurant a little west of Ajijic, and had not been disappointed by any 4.5 star-rated restaurants on our trip... until now. We simply came to have a couple drinks down by the water, and share an appetizer of ceviche. It is worth noting that I speak fluent Spanish, but my mother does not, so I was doing all of the ordering. To accompany our drinks, I asked for two glasses of water (free). Next thing I knew, the waiter was bringing over two bottles of water. I didn’t say anything at the time, but should’ve seen this as a sign of things to come. After finishing our drinks and plate of ceviche (mediocre at best) we asked for our check to leave. The waiter brought a piece of paper with just a number on it, 520 pesos, and scribbled Spanish stating that this was the total after the suggested tip. (Yes, for two drinks, two “waters” and an appetizer- WAY overpriced) Tucked behind this paper was an itemized bill for 435 pesos. I handed over a credit card and he asked me what I would like to add for a tip. I said 15% (yes, even in Mexico with mediocre food and service I am still going to be generous). Next thing I knew, I was signing a bill that added 100 pesos (25% tip!) for a total of 535. I looked him in the eye and told him no, I said 15%. He acted innocent and apologized, as if it was somehow a misunderstanding, and then fumbled around to find some change in his pocket in order to reimburse me in the amount of 35 pesos. Did I care enough to let if sour the evening? Of course not. But as someone who relies on TripAdvisor for restaurant recommendations, I thought I’d share my experience at this “4.5 star” place. And let others know that I certainly will not be going back.

We ended up dining at El Jacalito twice during our stay in Mismaloya simply because our experience during our first visit was so wonderful. Unlike dishes here at home, it was the main item that filled the plate, not the sides. My husband counted 18 jumbo shrimp on his plate! Ingredients are fresh (including in the drinks) which makes so much difference, the service was friendly and we were very comfortable in the open air dining room. Muey bien!

atmosphere is nice, place is different as construction was not made specific for restaurant, they adapt a place that previously existed and used to be a place where you need to reserve in order to be able to get a table, not sure if it still, took visitors from other countries and they liked it very much

We’ve eaten at Teocintle several times this summer and without exception, all of our meals have been outstanding. The preparation of grouper was excellent as was their version of the traditional Jalisco dish, carne en su jugo (beef in its juices)...a wonderful stew-like dish. They have vegetarian options and however they do their shrimp....always terrific! Ricardo is a gracious host and Gloria is a very talented chef. You can’t go wrong at Teocintle...unless you show up without a reservation. It’s almost always busy.

Our house in the heart of Providencia, the most wooded area of the city, it is a green and quiet oasis in the middle of the city bustle. For an impeccable business lunch, great moments as a couple, with the family or friends, at Ofelia Bistro we have a sp
This was our first visit to Ofelia Bistro (March 22, 2019). We were quite impressed with the service. The entire staff was attentive, pleasant and orchestrated their visits to our table so that nothing was missing while not being disruptive of our table conversation. It was not that we lucked out with our wait staff. Every single staff member went above and beyond to make our experience a very special one. The food was just as outstanding. We had several dishes to try a variety of their cuisine. The seared tuna was cooked just right and was fresh. The octopus and escargots were tasty too, as was the "costilla de res". They have a varied wine selection too. I will definitely go back when I return to Guadalajara.Todo estuvo excelente. Gracias a Ofelia Bistro y su equipo por contribuir a una gran noche y una gran cena. Volveremos! We`re grateful to have a kind opinion like yours. This is very important to our crew to know that we can satisfy your taste and offering you a great experience. Thank you very much to share it here. Hope to see you soon at Ofelia Bistro.

If you are in Tlaquepaque you must stop at Casa Fuerte for a meal. The food is great and they almost always have live music. The restaurant is situated the courtyard of a historic home. The staff are wonderful and attentive. Menus in Spanish and English.

PORFIRIO'S is passion, pride and excellence. A restaurant that praises the best of Mexico, transforming its traditional flavors, textures and aromas into the most exquisite dishes of Mexican haute cuisine
As many new and popular restaurants here in Guadalajara, this one is absolutely overrated. It’s not very defined if it is a restaurant or a bar with very loud remixed dj music, the portion are ridiculously small and the price it’s definitely not worth the taste and quality of the food. Definitely not recommended.Hello Alesssa22Thank you very much for posting a review about your experience, we have sent you a direct message to follow up your comments. Warm regards
