Hands down, Los Huacales serves some of the best food we've had in Mexico. This small, unpretentious restaurant is located above Plaza Baratillo, not far from the main plaza near Teatro Juarez. The chiles rellenos were delicious--well-seasoned with a variety of textures, and the black beans were flavorful. My husband had the pork mole with peanut sauce, and I raided his plate while he was watching the soccer game on tv. The meals were served with a smoking hot plate of fresh corn tortillas and a selection of well-flavored sauces. I had the leche flan for dessert and it was very good. I would recommend this place highly as one of the best places to eat in the city of Guanajuato.

Very cute spot , with a couple of tables on a bridge ! We we lucky enough to sit on the bridge for our lunch, by the end of our time people waiting for these tables! We had delicious vegetarian sandwiches, great bread and salsas and of course the best Micheladas!!! Friendly and efficient staff for this busy spot!!

In our dishes coexist tradition and contemporary. Our goal is to generate unique flavors, appealing to memory, but also to the extraordinary variety of dishes that make our kitchen.
I, like others below, it seems, was tricked into coming here by glowing TripAdvisor ratings. Trouble is, on closer inspection many of the favourable ratings are rather elderly. Something seems to have gone astray with TripAdvisor's algorithm here - I probably walked past 7 better places to eat on my way here, never mind the rest of Guanajuato.I will say on the positive side to kick things off, that the waiter was fantastic and the service incredibly friendly. The spicy salsa that came with the bread had a kick and was actually the highlight of the meal.My starter was a tapas plate that qas not what I was expecting at all - sort of a grilled cheese sandwich with tapanade, some meat and pesto on top. Not amazing but not unpleasant though. Sadly the accompanying wine was mediocre if I'm being generous. Then, the main course was a total disaster. Somewhat against my better judgement, I ordered steak and prawns which came with a pasta side, and some seasonal vegetables. The pasta turned out to bs lukewarm - I was the only customer here so clearly the only explanation for this is that it was reheated (badly) and not cooked fresh. This is unacceptable. I sent the plate back but had it returned in essentially identical condition a few minutes later. Suffice to say I did not eat the pasta. Meat was cooked OK. The side dish of vegetables was horribly overseasoned and far too salty. The waiter was incredibly apologetic and offered a free dessert or drink but I was done at this point. Instead they took 50% off the price of the main course which was an appreciated gesture but really didn't undo what was not a nice meal in any way, save the service.I went and had dessert elsewhere to cheer myself up. There are lots of great restaurants in Guanajuato, but this isn't one.

Stopped by here a bit early for dinner so it was not very crowded. I had the pollo con mole and it was to die for. Served as if in a 5 star restaurant. The servers were extremely friendly. My dinner, with a side of veggies and a mojito was still around 200 pesos. HçThis would be a $30 or $40 dollar dinner in the US. I would highly recommend.

Rustic mediterranean cuisine with Mexican influence in the heart of beautiful Guanajuato, Mexico. Reservations via our website, Facebook or email.
We visited Los Campos based on the Google Reviews, which rated it pretty high. Overall, I feel it was a good meal, though I would not call it the best we ever had. We started off with both of the soups on the menu, the Tomato Basil and the Black Bean. Both were very good, the bean soup had very mild taste and not too overpowering, and the tomato soup had a great balance of the flavors. We ordered and shared several dishes to make sure we had room left for dessert. We tried Guacamole Borracho, it was very fresh and tasty, not quite typical fare as it had a hit of wine. It was served in a cute dish that looked like half of avocado. The Queso Fundido was very good, but we are partial to meted cheese in general. It had a bit of nutmeg (??? not sure) taste to it. Very enjoyable. Champinones Rostizados were pretty good, but also very typical.Albondigas de pollo en mole negro was just OK. I guess the black sauce was not our cup of tea. The chicken meatballs were all right. Pollo con Papas was pretty good, it was more of fusion dish, not really Mexican nor Asian, something interesting to try. We also ordered some Sangrias, which were great, so sad they don’t sell it by the carafe. This was enough food for three people, and we had room for dessert which was excellent. Panna Cotta de Canela, definitely big enough to share for three and delicious. Overall, very good experience.

Definitely well deserved top restraunt rating! Exceptional food. Extremely well prepared. Wonderful flavors. Delicious sauces and use of spices - high quality, fresh ingredients . We had great service from Pablo who speaks very good English. One of the culinary highlights of our trip to Mexico.

#BixasediceBisha - Mexican restaurant with a precise Yucatecan accent.
Took my folks to Bixa to celebrate dad's 75th birthday and we were very impressed. The service was professional and attentive. The food was excellent, everything we had, from the complimentary amuse to dessert was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The wine list has a huge selection of Mexican wine, outstanding! Will definitely visit again next time we're in Irapuato.

DJ resident
Irapuato is a city that comes alive during the month of November during an important agriculture expo and most of restaurants business comes from this expo. During our specific visit they were understaffed and took too much time trying to push recommendations rather than listening to what we needed. They had great food, yet the service needs help. I would have gone with a higher rating if the service could have been improved.
We went for lunch at San Lorenzo and wow, what a great place. We had a few appetizers and entrees to share and loved everything. The service was very good, the decor modern and stylish and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back soon.
