Del Sol Cafe' & Market

My wife and I stopped here on the recommendation of someone at the local distillery. We had been told the food was among the best in town. We went at about 2.30pm, walked inside and stood at the empty hostess station. And stood. And stood. Wait staff were scurrying around like ants, not a smile to be seen or an acknowledgement of our presence. As a few more folks lined up behind us, I mentioned to Mrs. P that perhaps they didn't want our business. We were finally seated and a young girl, probably in her teens, came over to take our drinks order, which were then promptly delivered. We ordered an appetizer to share and our lunch choices. After a reasonable time, the lunch came out but not the app. "They forgot your appetizer," our waitress told us. Never mind, I said, this will do. As we tucked into our meals, we discussed both the outstanding food and the miserable service, the latter being evident throughout the restaurant. As we were talking about how much of a tip might be in order, our server came back, and I asked her what was going wrong there that day and why was no one smiling. Her honest reply was that there was a big concert that night and they were busier than usual for that time of day, and that many employees had requested off for the same concert. She was sincere and seemed happy that we asked what was up. We would definitely go again, as the food was terrific. PS, we tipped her extra.

Not a fancy place but truly unique for unusual tacos and Margaritas. Stopped for lunch and enjoyed a roasted cauliflower taco. Very tasty as were the other taco selections we tried. Fresh locally sourced ingredients. Lots of vegetarian choices. Service was friendly and fast. good selection of craft beers and margaritas. Definitely worth a return visit.

Carlito's Mexican Resturant

I've been here three times. The first, for dinner, was decent, for a Mexican restaurant in a state that thinks "cheese sauce" belongs on everything Mexican. Same with white processed "American" which ain't cheese btw. However, the last two times have seen a decrease in quality. I will say the prices are very affordable, the servers are friendly, their drinks are good (a double patron margarita for $13 as an example), and their guacamole along with jalapeno poppers are quite tasty. That is it though. Their burritos are a joke. Tiny, more like encheladas (which is par the course for pretty much all Mexican food in the state), and cold cheese sauce. My wife didn't even eat her gordita. The cooks here should take a field trip to Taco Bell up the street and see what a superior one looks like. Speaking of the cooks, it appears they are of Mexican descent, have they never tried real Mexican food? Or, do they cook the good stuff for themselves and serve the customers the inferior food? Can I get real cheese if I'm a cook? Del Sol is much better, so is Taco Bell. Unless my inlaws who live around here want to come back, I probably wouldn't alone.
