Reviews on Mexican food in Kingston, New York, United States. Kingston is a city in and the county seat of Ulster County, New York, United States. It is 91 miles (146 km) north of New York City and 59 miles (95 km) south of Albany. It became New York's first capital in 1777, and was burned by the British on October 13, 1777, after the Battles of Saratoga. In the 19th century, the city became an important transport hub after the discovery of natural cement in the region, and had both railroad and canal connections. Passenger rail service has since ceased, and many of the older buildings are part of three historic districts, such as the Stockade District uptown, the Midtown Neighborhood Broadway Corridor, and the Rondout-West Strand Historic District downtown.

Taqueria Poblano is a friendly place serving authentic Mexican food. Sit down and you'll get chips and two salsas, red and green, both yummy. A variety of tacos both hard and soft, tortas, enchiladas, and a variety of more complicated dishes. My ideal lunch is two tacos dorados ($4) which come with a dollop of refried beans and a fresh bit of salad with queso fresco, fabulous guacamole, and horchata (can't remember the prices of guacamole & drink). Then I get takeout posole, a big container for $7 for that night's supper and the next morning's breakfast. The staff is friendly, the food comes quickly, and I've never eaten anything there I didn't like!342 Broadway

I live in Colorado and seldom get freshly made tortillas in restaurants here, but at Alebrijes they had them and they were yummy! I had some soft tacos, my husband ordered fajitas. Everything was tasty, and freshly cooked. I wish I lived around the corner and could become a regular at this place. It's nicely decorated without being too ornate or kitschy and it seemed reasonably busy on a week night.

We stopped here because of good online reviews and it certainly didnât disappoint. It was mid-afternoon when we arrived and the place wasnât very busy. Our server was pleasant, efficient, and helpful in customizing our order for us since neither of us wanted a huge meal. We had an avocado tostado, rice, and beans. Everything (including the chips and salsa beforehand) was fresh and had great flavor. This is definitely somewhere Iâd visit again if I lived in the area.

I liked the atmosphere, but the food and service weren't great. I had the Baja Fish Tacos. The fish was deep fried and very greasy. Their wine selection is pretty limited (which I'll give them a by on since they are a mexican restaurant, not a wine place). The guacamole we got as an appetizer was good.

Went there for lunch with a business associate and ordered a shrimp and a fish taco. Thy were both quite good but I felt the seasoning was toned down, probably to satisfy the American palate. Still, there were good since you would not know unless you have been to Mexico. Service was very pleasant and décor was, well, not there. Still, the simplicity, divey approach did not detract from the experience....just the opposite. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Would certainly return.

Modern Mexican featuring both traditional and innovative Fresh, made on premise food (even the chips and salsas). Grilled seafood and fajita steaks plus shrimp stuffed jalapenos are specialties. Burritos are filled with flavorful ingredients. A good selec
The chips were good with two kinds of really great salsas. I got the enchiladas with spinach and cauliflower. So good! And I never have leftovers but did take some home. Service was spectacular! From the front door to my parting, everything was quick and friendly. I actually had two waitresses coming by so I always had quick pleasant service. Plenty of street parking. I parked right in front of the restaurant. There was lots of outdoor seating and a bar that was pretty full. I sat inside near a window that looked out to the street.
